Chapter 748 – #160_Let’S Break Up Now

#748

1.
“Haa…”

My steps felt heavy.
Even on such a beautiful moonlit night, the cigarette tasted particularly bitter.

I had heard the general circumstances from Amelia.
Though she described it as a ‘fight,’ it was closer to Sharon being unilaterally angry.

The circumstances were as follows:

The Gehenna personnel who mobilized to save Siwoo were Amelia, Eloa, and Rurue, a total of three.

Among them, Rurue was originally scheduled to be excluded from the rescue team, but Dorothy brought the information one step ahead, so she joined.
The important thing was not that, but that Sharon was completely left out of that list.

It was something done at the discretion of Amelia and Eloa, but I think it was a necessary measure for Siwoo as well.

Sharon, who had been living fiercely like a wildflower in the mortal world to repay her debts since almost immediately after her succession.
Because of that, she had matured quite early, but she was still a ‘young witch’ not too far in age from Siwoo.

Also, even considering that she was a Great Witch of the 20th rank, considering the difficulty of the operation, it was too dangerous for her to get involved in such a big game.

Amelia and Eloa knew how much Sharon cared for Siwoo, so they had no choice but to keep it a secret to prevent her from acting recklessly.

At that time, saving Siwoo safely was the only top priority, so they had no choice but to make a ruthless decision.
If Siwoo had been in that position, he would have made the same decision.

However, since Sharon had been suffering since Siwoo went missing, the incident seemed to have been a huge shock to her.

The two people she trusted and relied on more than anyone else had left her out, so even if she understood it in her head, her heart couldn’t accept it.

But Siwoo had grown a little more after experiencing another danger.

Dealing with this situation was also part of the path he had to walk.
He had to take responsibility, comfort her, listen to her resentment, and restore their harmonious relationship as before.

Periwinkle Noona had also advised me before.
If I felt sorry for having multiple lovers, I should love them all so much that I wouldn’t feel sorry.

“Okay, I can do it.”

I carefully entered the detached building where Sharon’s workshop was located.
I walked through the dark hallway without a single light and was about to step onto the stairs.

-Tap tap

The sound of shoe heels, slightly muffled by the carpet, echoed on the floor.
And following behind, Sharon was seen pulling a large carrier.

“Sharon.”

Putting aside the problems to be solved, my heart was pounding with joy.
I had met a lover I thought I might never see again, so I wondered if this was how a soldier felt returning from deployment.

But there was no Sharon running towards Siwoo with tears and snot.
There was no Sharon jumping down the stairs and embracing me like a butterfly.

“Oh, you’re awake?”

Just a cold voice and cold mint-colored eyes, as if she were a different person, casually scanned Siwoo.
My heart froze coldly.
The intuition that something was seriously wrong tickled my back like a feather dipped in poison.

Sharon sighed meaninglessly and came down the stairs.
Each time, the heavy carrier rattled.

Sharon, illuminated by the moonlight after leaving the dark staircase, was not smiling at all.

I realized after a long time that Sharon’s impression was that of a cool beauty, a cat-like face.
When she was with Siwoo, she was always a golden retriever smiling brightly, so I had forgotten that fact.

Sharon was trying to pass by Siwoo as if intentionally keeping her distance.
Siwoo, who had been awkwardly frozen by the more serious atmosphere than he had imagined.

“Where are you going?”
“Yeah.”
“Where are you going?”
“Do I have to tell you that?”

Sharon passed by Siwoo, finally going down the stairs, as if dealing with a clingy ex-boyfriend.

Come to think of it, where was she going with such a big carrier?
Why was Sharon fully dressed for going out on this late night?
The panic-frozen thoughts melted into a complex heat that swelled my head, and doubts flowed.

The melted doubts froze again, turning into a rational intuition that if I let Sharon go now, I might never see her again.
I ran down the stairs and grabbed Sharon’s wrist.

“I’m sorry, but can you let go?”

A reaction as if my hand was cut by sharp snowflakes.

“Sharon.”
“I asked you to let go.”
“Sharon, let’s talk about what’s going on for a moment.”

It wasn’t that I didn’t know what was going on.
There were too many things that pricked my conscience, so I couldn’t even lift my head.

The fact that I had made her suffer so much, and that I had even brought in another lover.
From a third party’s point of view, I had only done terrible things that would make anyone shake their head.

How would that have looked in the eyes of Sharon, my girlfriend?

Perhaps I had been unconsciously taking advantage of Sharon’s kindness, making excuses like ‘she understands’ or ‘it can’t be helped’?

As that thought seeped in, I couldn’t help but feel anxious.
I couldn’t think of any words to persuade her.

“I’m going to the mortal world.”
“Where in the mortal world? So suddenly? It’s too dangerous outside right now.”
“Siwoo.”

My heart tightened when I heard Sharon’s unique way of calling me, ‘Siwoo.’
The anxiety that had been making noises from the far end of the dark hallway was taking on a clearer form.

“Are you really that clueless? Or are you pretending to be clueless? Do you think anything will change if you act like a boyfriend?”

Annoyance settled on Sharon’s expressionless face like frost.
Siwoo, truly pathetic, blocked Sharon as if making an excuse.

“It’s not about acting like a boyfriend… I understand why you’re acting like this, Sharon. But let’s calm down and talk calmly for a moment.”
“Talk? Fine. It won’t take long.”

The words that fell from Sharon’s parted lips were…

“Let’s break up.”

It was a declaration of separation more terrifying than any vicious self-destructive magic.

2.

I think I said something earnestly.
I don’t remember what I said.
Even though I can easily remember the magic formulas the size of a phone book that I’ve flipped through, that is.
However, Sharon’s words were engraved in my mind without missing a single one.

‘I’m sorry for saying this after you came back so hard. I know I’m being too much.’

‘No, I’ve been thinking about it several times. I’ve thought a lot about it. But I think this is the right thing to do.’

‘The time I spent with you was so much fun. But every time you get into an accident like this, every time I worry every day, it feels like that happiness is all worn away. So, is that why? I’m not really having fun being with you anymore.’

‘No, no, stop it. Don’t say it’s the last time either. I’m really tired now.’

‘I really didn’t want to say this… So, how many times am I to you?’

‘Anyway, you don’t really care if I’m not around, do you?’

‘It’s selfish, but I hope you’re doing well. Thank you for everything. Really.’

I’m dazed.

If you were to hit your head several times with a hammer and then remove the pain, I think this is how it would feel.
All that throbbing went straight to my chest.

I learned that if a person is really sad, their heart can physically hurt.

“……”

I couldn’t stop Sharon from closing the door and leaving.

If I were to forcibly stop or chase after Sharon, who was leaving like white ashes, as if there were no emotions left to burn, it would seem like I wasn’t even listening to her last sincerity.
I was afraid that it would take away even the last shred of opportunity.

I couldn’t bring myself to move.

3.
Early dawn.
Even for a witch who doesn’t necessarily need to sleep, it’s the time when the streets become deserted.
It was also the time when Rose Glass, Gehenna’s only host bar, was preparing for its first shift.

“Haaahm…”

Takasho stretched out and tapped the bottom of his cigarette pack to bring up a filter.
The information Takasho provided had unintentionally caused Siwoo to fall into a trap.

Even though it wasn’t his intention, he couldn’t have felt comfortable knowing that his friend had invested all his assets in the stock he recommended and had lost everything.

Because of that, Takasho had postponed his marriage with Count Adonai and had been having sleepless nights, but just yesterday, he had heard the news that Siwoo had returned, and he had finally had a good night’s sleep.

Takasho, who had come out to the back alley to check the inventory of the alcohol that had been sold yesterday, encountered an unexpected guest.

“Eek! What is this!”
“Ughhh…”

There was a man stretched out, using a pile of stacked garbage bags as a bed.
Siwoo, who he thought would be spending a passionate reunion with his lovers by now, was having a rendezvous with a pile of garbage in the back alley of the host bar.

“What are you doing here? I thought you were trash. Eek! What’s with the smell of alcohol! Why did you tear all the bags open!”
“Oh, Takasho. Good to see you.”

The smell of alcohol became even thicker as soon as he opened his mouth.
Looking beside him, there were several empty bottles of alcohol lying on the ground.

Even Takasho, who had been trained by his long years as a host, thought that it was a dose and amount that would be hard to handle if he drank it all.
It seemed like it was the first time he had seen Siwoo so drunk since he became a witch.

“It’s comfortable here. It smells good.”

Siwoo, who seemed out of his mind, rubbed his cheek against a black bag and spoke with slurred pronunciation.
Takasho looked at the garbage area, which was a mess as if a stray cat had been running wild all night, and said with a sullen expression.

“The thing you’re using as a pillow is a bag of napkins that the witches used.”
“Oh, as expected of a witch. It was so fluffy. Call the manager, I need to give him a tip.”
“……”

Takasho scratched his head.
He wasn’t in his right mind.
But he couldn’t just leave his friend who had returned from the brink of death, and who he owed several times, like this.

“What the hell is this from the crack of dawn.”

Takasho put his hands under Siwoo’s armpits and dragged him away like a piece of luggage.
As he did so, he was able to roughly figure out what had happened.

“Takasho… sob, I got dumped.”
“What? Finally, such happy news?”

“Sharon said she’s breaking up with me.”
“Sharon-ssi? She has an eye for people.”

“I’m trash! Put me next to the trash! That’s my home now!”
“I can’t do that because it’s an eyesore. And you should feel sorry for the trash.”

“I really don’t know what to do. Save me! Help me!”
“…I’ll help you, but first, sober up. Ah…!”

Takasho, who had been making sarcastic remarks while watching Siwoo cry pathetically with tears and snot, realized something.

There was a fact that should not be forgotten here.
Siwoo had clearly become the protagonist of a harem that even the greatest emperors had not been able to achieve.

But just a few years ago, he was a virgin who had never had a girlfriend.

Having only had peaceful relationships so far, he had no manual for dealing with a fight with a girlfriend, a quarrel, or when faced with the crisis of a breakup.

“I guess I have to help him with this.”

Takasho grumbled but laid Siwoo down on the sofa in the president’s office.
