Chapter 101 – Business Trip (4)
Last lecture on a business trip to Japan.
Now that I have accumulated a bit of know-how, I can make jokes in between and proceed moderately leisurely.
In addition, since the first day, the questions and comments from the audience overlapped quite a lot, to the point where they could be roughly predicted.
But is it because it is the last day?
A college student whose head was still less firm asked an unexpected question.
To be honest, I didn’t see it as a good question.
However, his question had a corner that stuck in my heart for some reason.
“I enjoyed the good lecture. However, it seems that most of the hunter crime cases introduced in this lecture were able to be arrested thanks to Korea’s unique social surveillance network and high population density. The investigator also emphasized that several times. Right. Did you?”
“That’s right.”
I left the translation provided by the association and replied directly.
He also knows how to speak simple Japanese.
In particular, I am confident in the vocabulary related to crime and investigation.
“But it doesn’t seem to be a story limited to Hunter’s crimes.”
“Ah…”
As I was answering a college student’s question, I felt increasingly strange.
I wondered if we could really do this.
“Hunters clearly have abilities that transcend human beings. In order to prepare for hunter crimes, the social system itself must evolve one step further.”
“However, the parts you mentioned are also human rights violations…”
“So, in order to eradicate hunter crime, are you saying that it’s best to keep an eye on all hunters?”
“Haha. Everyone, the instructor is talking from the standpoint of preventing and arresting hunter crimes, so please understand.”
In fact, hunter crime cannot be eradicated.
Ordinary crimes cannot be eradicated, but we will eradicate hunter crimes well.
But I can’t say it with my own mouth.
Our society is too fragile to control the Hunters.
If Blanche and the company had not mobilized, there would have been more cases that I could not solve.
I may have jumped into a fight I couldn’t win from the start.
After the lecture was finished by somehow managing the flood of questions, it was finally time to tour.
While enjoying Fukuoka leisurely with Yeriel, I received a report from Chief Esquire just in time.
[Return to headquarters completed… Operation is a success.]
“Good work.”
[Is the master side okay?]
“You seem suspicious, but I can’t help it since I even checked the cameras near the hotel. What about green hair?”
[Very calm. To be honest, I’m a little worried.]
“…”
I clicked my tongue inwardly, recalling what Black Lotus said at the scene.
It makes me feel very bad because I seem to be listening to him, but there’s nothing wrong with being careful.
I made up my mind and asked Chief Esquire.
“That guy, there were a couple of suspicious circumstances. Please inspect the parts properly before removing them, okay?”
[I’m careful that Master Matthew doesn’t run out of control.]
“Because it makes sense.”
It’s fortunate if the chief esquire also felt a sense of incongruity.
Feeling a little relieved, I went into the chocolate shop with Yeriel.
Since I am returning home tomorrow, I packed gifts for my teammates and returned to the hotel on time.
As I was drinking moderately in my room, a report came in from the head office.
Matthew, who investigated the green hair, was not very bright.
[An unexpected problem has occurred.]
“What?”
[Speaking of the green hair’s ability to respond to nature, it seems that it can’t be controlled by the user’s will.]
Matthew Manuel, already in research mode, started explaining in a serious voice while wearing a white coat.
[The reason why this object does not respond to external stimuli can be said to be the result of constant exposure to too strong stimuli.]
“That, like that…”
It is said that the green hair’s natural sensitivity is a specialized version of the clairvoyant that Blanche also possesses.
I can’t even imagine what kind of side effects it would have if you overdo it with raid boss-level magic.
Most of Tiamat’s heads felt set free apart from their sisters…
This guy did the opposite.
Due to being separated from his sisters his and his abilities fully manifesting, he has become unable to withstand the enormous load.
Matthew calmly recited the decision.
[If the green hair wasn’t in charge of stamina, I would have died or gone crazy. Sensitivity is only going to hurt him. From now on, we will perform surgery to remove both horns, which are the main axis of ability.]
“Wait, can I just take it off like that?”
[Of course not. If it was that easy, wouldn’t you have taken it yourself?]
The way he spoke, as if he were teaching an incompetent student, made me angry, but he was right in every word.
Fortunately, Matthew had a plan.
[This horn appears to be connected to the nervous system. I will use green dust to completely stop the action of my ability, and I will perform an excision operation with an A-class healer. I do not work haphazardly.]
“Yeah, that’s right.”
After trying hard to ignore the forced modification of Blanche last time and agreeing with difficulty, the operation began without hesitation.
The green head lying on the operating table was literally a corpse…
When Matthew used green dust to suppress his ability, the reaction came back.
[Yes…]
[Are you okay?]
[That, what are you going to do with it?]
When the green-headed man who had found the surgical chainsaw asked in an awkward tone, Matthew answered calmly.
[I’m going to cut off the horns. Since the nerves are connected, even a monster can die if the surgery goes wrong.]
“Matthew, you’re the worst doctor ever.”
[For reference, I do not have a medical license.]
The green hair reacted even more bewildered as he was horrified by the notification, which had no intention of reassuring the patient.
[If you cut it… Can it be liberated?]
[The main axis of your natural response ability is that horn. If the horn that acts as an antenna disappears, information cannot be received.]
[I’m not sure what you mean… I get it. Do whatever you want.]
The guy stopped asking questions and let his head drop onto the operating table.
Matthew began the operation with careful instructions.
Suk…
The anesthesia was successful, but the sleeping pills didn’t work properly, perhaps because it was a monster.
However, the green hair did not move even while cutting off its horns.
Fortunately, the long operation seemed to have been successful.
At least the patient didn’t die immediately after the operation.
The green hair, with both horns neatly cut off, absentmindedly raised his hand and touched it.
Matthew asked him, fearlessly clearing away the green dust.
[How?]
[… Be quiet. It’s too quiet.]
[Good. The nerve is exposed, so additional measures must be taken. Shall I wear a fake horn?]
[No. I’m sick of horns now.]
Green hair, the first to show us disapproval.
Matthew nodded softly.
[Then, I will only attach a small implant to the amputation.]
[Do whatever you feel like. I… I need to get some sleep.]
He lay down on the operating table again and looked at Matthew and the camera.
[Thank you.]
[Begins finishing work.]
The green hair that really fell asleep didn’t wake up even after the operation.
According to Tia, she’ll probably be asleep for another 10 years.
“Brave people usually sleep for a long time.”
“Really? It’s good for us if you sleep for a long time.”
“It’s been a while since I finished.”
I feel sorry for the red hair and the Japanese hunters, but the agreement with the green hair went very smoothly.
However, Matthew became skeptical about Blanche’s upgrade her.
[The green hair’s ability is way too powerful than we expected. I don’t know if Blanche can handle this.]
[Master Matthew. Can’t we use green dust to control it like before?]
[Unless the ability is completely sealed, there will be some adverse effects. To be honest, this upgrade will be a gamble.]
[Then it should be put to a vote.]
Irene Wilson said so without hesitation.
[I’m against it. We don’t want to risk our most valuable assets being destroyed.]
“I’m against it too.”
After Ilene and I voted no, Matthew swallowed his saliva and nodded.
[I wanted to vote neutral… But now that it’s like this, I’ll hold off.]
“Let’s not be too hasty. We’ve got the materials anyway, so we can proceed anytime. There’s still time for additional research.”
[I get it. Good job everyone. From now on, I will study whether I can weaken the ability to an appropriate level.]
We ended the meeting in a warm atmosphere after a long time.
Exhausted from watching, I leaned back on the sofa and drool.
“Umm, in the end I did as the Black Lotus said.”
“Is that voice really Black Lotus?”
“I’m sure. In the first place, very few people know about the hunter’s crime planner Black Lotus… It’s probably no coincidence that the monster wave happened just before we moved.”
I nodded without hesitation at Alice’s question.
Yeriel looked at me and asked.
“By the way, do you really have no idea at all?”
“This is a bit vague speculation, but… Could the Black Lotus be the same person as Tiamat’s white hair?”
“What?”
Even as I spoke, I felt a sense of self-confidence rising.
“The telepathy that was passed on to me was something that could have required a solid understanding of the nature of the green hair. I don’t know where the hell he got his information about him about the Oracle, but the green hair thing is .”
“… If the Black Lotus was the green-haired sister, you mean you would have known that trait as well?”
“That’s right! Tia also knew a little bit about him. In the first place, it didn’t seem like the red hair would obey human commands.”
If the red head flew in after receiving the white arrow, it would roughly make sense.
Now that there are only Tia, Tia, green, and white hair left in this world, the white hair becomes the culprit through the method of elimination.
“I thought it was Black Lotus, so I vaguely thought of black… That was what the opponent was aiming for. Damn, I was too discriminatory.”
“Eh. With that being said, sure…”
We enjoyed the last night of our business trip to Japan, exchanging opinions until late at night.
I felt like I could see the outline of the opponent who seemed impossible to catch.
