## Chapter 339 – 34. An Invitation to Myself
34. An Invitation to Myself
A few days after the market meeting, Jung Min-ah held a press conference and released a statement.
– Esteemed citizens of Incheon, this is Mayor Jung Min-ah. Today, as the mayor of Incheon and as the person responsible for this city, I stand here with a grave resolution.
When it’s just the two of us, she’s a total pushover, a complete wimp, but standing at a podium giving a speech, she transforms. If you look closely, you can see her hands trembling slightly, but that’s hardly a flaw. Overall, she projects the image of a decisive and resolute leader.
Knowing that countless reporters and cameras are watching, and that 30 million citizens are on the other side of the screen, being able to deliver a speech like that is a talent in itself.
‘Did I underestimate her too much?’
– Our society is plagued by serious organized crime, drug trafficking, and all sorts of violent crimes and fraud that threaten the safety of our citizens. It is a well-known fact that my proud hometown, the city I love more than any other, is being called “Mafia Incheon,” a nickname that is anything but funny.
We can no longer stand idly by.
We must resolve this.
We must erase that disgraceful nickname.
Therefore, I, or rather, Incheon, declare a ‘War on Crime.’
Buzzing.
The conference hall became noisy. Despite being a wimpy pushover, her enunciation was excellent, making the “War on Crime” declaration quite impactful.
She continued amidst the noise.
– This is not simply about cracking down on crime. It is a comprehensive response to protect the precious daily lives and safety of our citizens, a declaration that we will fight to the end and emerge victorious. We will respond with the most powerful means, without any compromise, to all criminal activities that undermine and violate the law and order, and to the organizations that promote them.
To this end, I will issue the following orders to all institutions under the mayor:
Jung Min-ah began announcing various measures and orders. Each one was so unconventional that the hall was not just noisy, but in a state of shock.
There were quite a few, but to summarize, she was willing to somewhat sacrifice the fundamental principles of democracy and the sanctity of the judiciary in order to catch and destroy criminals. To that end, she announced an agreement to move City Hall to Namdong Industrial Complex, which was symbolic of Incheon’s crime, and to relocate the local police agency, district prosecutor’s office, and district court to Namdong Industrial Complex as well.
– During this war, there may be sacrifices of some innocent people. I am sorry. As the decision-maker who made all these decisions, I apologize in advance from this podium.
Nevertheless, she insisted that this war on crime must continue to the end. Her attitude was very firm, leaving no room for compromise.
After the statement, countless reporters raised their hands. Jung Min-ah answered them diligently.
Then, at the last possible moment before time ran out, she received a question about the ‘innocent victims’ she had mentioned earlier.
– You said that innocent victims may occur. If the worst happens and you carry out a death sentence, and then it turns out they were innocent, how will you take responsibility for that life?!”
– Life is precious. It can never be compensated for with words or actions. Only by achieving the purpose and results of the sacrifice can we console that soul.
– What are you-
– Ah, it seems you are Reporter Kwon Tae-yang from NTR Broadcasting? As it happens, there are some things the citizens should know about you.
– Huh??
A holographic image was projected next to Jung Min-ah. It contained data from the prosecutor’s office investigating Reporter Kwon Tae-yang’s various irregularities and connections to criminal organizations. It was supposed to be top secret, but the mayor was just broadcasting it live.
‘Did she prepare this in advance?’
– W, what are you doing?!!
– As you can see, Reporter Kwon Tae-yang of NTR Broadcasting is a criminal who is of no benefit to this society. And I am the mayor who has declared a war on crime. I will show you what that means.
Security consisting of armed police officers moved. I couldn’t see exactly what was happening outside the frame, but judging from the fact that the NTR reporter’s voice was booming and then fading away, it seemed he was being taken away.
And when that voice was far enough away, a gunshot rang out.
– ??!
– What, what was that just now?
– Senior, wasn’t that a gunshot?
The conference hall became as chaotic as if a bomb had exploded. In the midst of it all, Jung Min-ah grabbed the microphone again.
– This is the war on crime I was talking about. Responding with the most powerful means, without any compromise, to all criminal activities that undermine and violate the law and order, and to the organizations that promote them, and finally eradicating them from this land.
I will return to you, esteemed citizens, the freedom and safety you deserve.
With that, the mayor’s address concluded. The news anchor reporting on it stammered, unable to hide the shock on her face even after the screen had switched.
‘Wow… Jung Min-ah… she could go this far?’
I was quite surprised myself. I never imagined she would stage an execution on live television. I thought the wimpy pushover I knew could never do something like that. Did I misjudge her? Or is it an act?
‘Even if it’s an act, she couldn’t hide that much talent.’
So, is she acting charismatic right now? Is it all CG?
All sorts of thoughts ran through my head. If I’m this surprised, how must ordinary people feel? It was complete chaos.
‘Why are there no normal people in this city?’
First, I sent her a text. Just saying that I watched the address.
The reply… was the wimpy pushover I knew. That extreme timidity and nervousness that I could sense even through text was still there.
As a joke, I asked if she was going to arrest me too, and she completely freaked out, spamming texts with typos, saying that would never happen. It was like when I first contacted Min Ji-ah.
Cute, sexy, and frustrating… just that kind of person. She doesn’t seem like the crazy bitch from earlier at all.
‘Well… there must be something going on. I can find out later.’
A lot of questions piled up in my head, but I decided to just brush it off for now. There will be a chance to find out someday, and even if I don’t, it won’t have a fatal impact on me.
“Still listens well, though. Does everything I tell her to do.”

Jung Min-ah made such a fuss that a huge amount of articles poured out in just one hour. At first, most of the articles were negative. No wonder, since the mayor had just carried out an execution on live television.
Of course, she didn’t directly show it. But she gave enough room to think that way.
ㅇㅇ(163.39) : Holy shit lol is this real
ㄴ ㅇㅇ : Surprisingly it’s real
ㄴ ㅇㅇ(172.33) : Surprisingly it’s reality
ㄴ DumplingLover : And yet it is
ㅇㅇ(118.32) : Wow… the previous mayor died with his head exploding while declaring martial law, and the new mayor executes someone during a live broadcast?? Is this the class of Incheon….
ㄴ ㅇㅇ : There’s a reason why it’s called Mafia Incheon….
ㄴ Nippletwister : Don’t you know Ibumangcheon? If you divorce, Bucheon, if you fail, Incheon lol it’s a long tradition ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
ㄴ QuirkeIsJustANoob : No, but that doesn’t explain the failing part lol
ㄴ ㅇㅇ(129.42) : What do you expect from a place full of Chinese bastards lol
SupremeCourtJudge : Wait, they just kill them? Without a chance to defend themselves or a trial? That doesn’t make sense… Even if Incheon is an autonomous city, it can’t deny the Constitution of the Republic of Korea. This is just murder.
ㄴ ㅇㅇ(172.33) : Next, a crime apologist
ㄴ SupremeCourtJudge : What are you talking about, idiot
ㄴ ㅇㅇ(172.33) : All is forgiven if you’re pretty
ㄴ SupremeCourtJudge : Are you retarded??
ILoveJungMinah : Jung Min-ah to the National Assembly! To the National Assembly!
– KimchiWrappedInTuna : Thank you thank you thank you
– ㅇㅇ(111.11) : Jung Min-ah is the only politician who cares about the common people. We must rebuild this country with her. It’s a waste of her to be just the mayor of a city
ㄴ ㅇㅇ(129.42) : Please control your typos
ㄴ ㅇㅇ : Control, you idiot lol
People’s reactions were shocking.
She instantly swept away all the topics that had been covering various news sections and Jung Min-ah’s face was on the front page of every newspaper and every media outlet.
But after some time, positive articles began to surface, and the comments on various communities and YouTube were also extensively purified (?).
Of course, it was my secretary’s office that ordered it.
– Professor Kim Gyu-wan Says “Abnormal Situations Require Abnormal Judgments”… Unavoidable Decision.
– Political Science Professor Jung Jong-gyu Publicly Supports Mayor Jung Min-ah… “Human Rights are a Luxury for Criminals.”
– Namdong District Mayor Kim Eun-ji, “Today’s Address by Mayor Jung Min-ah is a Historic Moment”… “All Incheon Citizens Must Stand With Her.”
– 30 Million Incheon Citizens Finally Celebrate Crime Liberation Day.
Celebrities also began to speak out.
Naturally, people were greatly shocked and confused by the clash of values, and taking advantage of that gap, the Special Prosecutor Act, which could be said to be my long-cherished desire, quietly passed through the National Assembly.
