Kwaaaaaang!
A small building burst into flames with a deafening roar. It was the lodging for Ma Young-jae’s bodyguards. Though called bodyguards, they were essentially thugs who followed Ma Young-jae.
“We’re under attack!”
“What crazy bastard is doing this!”
“It’s Choi Gong-jin’s gang! It’s their doing!”
The bodyguards shouted and rushed out. I watched from a distance.
‘They’re a mixed bag.’
Except for a few who seemed experienced, most were just running blindly. Some were cautiously trying to save their own hides. They were so used to peace that they had forgotten how to fight. It was only natural. In the light of day, people don’t fight with their fists.
‘Even if they’re trained, they’re not soldiers. They’re bound to have limits.’
The military is selective. They take people with the right mindset and give them systematic training. They maintain discipline in an efficient way. Bodyguards, on the other hand, were a motley crew.
‘This will be easy.’
We all acted separately.
Noh Kyung-hak, a musclehead, charged ahead as recklessly as he looked. Yang Yu-ra, who pretended to be a middle schooler, had vanished without me noticing. Jung Soo-yeon moved quietly, avoiding people’s gazes and the security cameras. I followed behind Jung Soo-yeon.
‘Noh Kyung-hak. How do I kill that bastard?’
I was trying to figure out how to kill Noh Kyung-hak. First, I needed to separate from Jung Soo-yeon naturally. If I suddenly distanced myself, she would get suspicious.
While running towards the main house where Ma Young-jae was, I ran into a bodyguard. The tense bodyguard pulled out his gun and immediately fired. Jung Soo-yeon and I quickly hid behind a landscaping tree. Just because we were Guardians didn’t mean bullets weren’t lethal.
“Weren’t you using a faint presence?”
“A faint presence doesn’t work on someone who’s on high alert. It’s not a power that makes you invisible or undetectable.”
Huff. Huff.
I could hear the bodyguard’s excited breathing. It was obvious without looking. If we showed ourselves even a little, he would pull the trigger.
“Come out! Come out, you bastards! I don’t know what you think you’re doing, but the moment you show yourselves, I’ll turn you into a beehive!”
It was all bravado. His voice was trembling. It seemed like this was the bodyguard’s first real combat experience.
Jung Soo-yeon pulled a wire from her finger. The wire dug into the ground, and a clay doll rose. The clay doll stepped out from behind the tree.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
The bodyguard unloaded his gun on the clay doll. As soon as the shooting stopped, Jung Soo-yeon rushed out.
“Aaaaargh!”
The bodyguard screamed. He tried to turn and run, but then took a boxing stance. It was pointless. He was knocked out cold by Jung Soo-yeon’s uppercut. The unconscious man didn’t get up.
I approached the fallen bodyguard with my Hwaryeon Flying Blades.
“What are you doing? Aren’t you going to kill him?”
“He’s just a normal person who can’t even use Force.”
“So?”
“He’s already subdued. There’s no need to kill him.”
“Just because he’s a normal person doesn’t mean he can’t fight. You saw him shooting. Whether they’re Force users or Guardians, they die if they get shot in the heart or head.”
Swish.
I slit the bodyguard’s throat. Jung Soo-yeon’s eyes flickered.
“If you’re going to do it, do it properly. Don’t be half-assed.”
“…”
Jung Soo-yeon turned away without a word. It was one of her weaknesses. She lost her edge when the opponent was just a normal person.
She would get caught off guard someday if she kept that up. I didn’t know if Jung Soo-yeon fully understood what I meant.
Jung Soo-yeon and I broke through a window and entered the main house. We were able to get in easily because Noh Kyung-hak was charging like a wild boar at the entrance.
“Aaaaargh!”
A man’s scream erupted. We ignored it and went up to the third floor. The owner of the house was usually in the highest and best room.
There were bodyguards in the third-floor hallway.
“Enemies!”
Jung Soo-yeon pulled wires from both hands and swung them around. The ten wires spun at high speed, deflecting bullets.
I sent lightning through the floor with my feet.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzt!
Blue lightning flowed across the hallway floor, electrocuting all seven bodyguards in the hallway. The electrocuted men fell without even screaming.
Two of the normal people died from the shock. Five were Force users and survived. I glanced at Jung Soo-yeon. Did she understand what my look meant? Jung Soo-yeon picked up the guns that had fallen on the floor and shot each of the unconscious men in the head.
“Let’s go in.”
We opened the door that the bodyguards had been guarding and entered the room. It seemed like the bodyguards had a reason to be there, as we found our target, Ma Young-jae. Ma Young-jae, sitting in a chair, glared at me and Jung Soo-yeon with a distorted face.
“You two. Who are you? Who sent you? Huh?”
I looked at the woman next to Ma Young-jae. She was not pretty or cute by any stretch of the imagination.
She was short, but her body was wide. She had a lot of fat on her face and neck. Her mouth was also very large.
A toad.
The term “toad human” suited her very well.
“Your mother, who’s being fucked in hell, sent us, you moron.”
I approached Ma Young-jae, flicking my middle finger. Ma Young-jae, who had been suddenly hit with a mother insult, blinked for a moment before jumping up from his seat.
“Where did this crazy bastard come from… Wait. You’re the good-for-nothing from Cheonil Group?! The infamous parricidal murderer who killed his own family!”
“Everyone knows me.”
I let out a hollow laugh. I must have become quite famous. Well, I did beat up a reporter and spout nonsense at a press conference, so it would be stranger if people in Korea didn’t know me.
“I’ll give you a taste of Chidori.”

I generated lightning in my right hand. The lightning gathered in my hand sparked in all directions, illuminating the dark room. Ma Young-jae’s face hardened. Ma Young-jae was a normal person.
“Stop him!”
The toad woman jumped at me. Somehow, she jumped like a toad. I threw the lightning gathered in my hand at the toad. The toad blocked the lightning with her belly fat. The lightning didn’t penetrate the toad woman’s body and fizzled out.
‘Is it a physical enhancement ability? It could be the kind that turns skin into steel.’
Lightning again.
This time, I channeled it into my Hwaryeon Flying Blades instead of my hand. The blue lightning reversed and turned into red lightning the moment it touched the Hwaryeon Flying Blades. Red lightning, much more powerful than normal lightning. Even the toad wouldn’t be able to ignore this.
The moment everyone’s attention was on me, Jung Soo-yeon was quietly moving towards Ma Young-jae using a faint presence. Ma Young-jae noticed. He immediately turned and jumped out the window. Crash! He landed on the ground without any trouble from the third floor.
‘Was he a Force user? I didn’t sense it. He hid it very well.’
Jung Soo-yeon clicked her tongue and rushed towards the window. The toad woman opened her mouth wide. Her tongue stretched out like a whip, aiming for Jung Soo-yeon’s head. Jung Soo-yeon jumped up. She kicked off the ceiling and retreated, avoiding the tongue.
“You bitch! Where do you think you’re going? You look like shit and act like a rat! A bitch like you should have her neck snapped!”
“Toad.”
“You bitch! Who are you calling a toad? You whore!”
“Toad.”
“You fucking bitch! Is that all you can say? You’re a retard! You should die!”
“Toad.”
“You fucking bitch!”
A fierce argument between the toad and Jung Soo-yeon. The toad was completely enraged and charged at Jung Soo-yeon. Jung Soo-yeon gestured for me to chase after Ma Young-jae. I gave her a thumbs up and jumped out the window.
Even though she looked like that, the toad was quite strong. Even Jung Soo-yeon, who had been trained by me, wouldn’t be able to follow right away.
‘First, I’ll catch Ma Young-jae and knock him out, then kill Noh Kyung-hak.’
Ma Young-jae was running frantically. His speed was much faster than a normal person.
‘He didn’t have a body trained in martial arts… This is annoying.’
He took out something that looked like a cigarette case from his pocket. Inside were syringes. He took out a blue syringe and stabbed it into his arm. The drug flowed through his veins and seeped into his body. He started to feel energized. He even felt good.
Lightning Heaven Style (雷天流) Gale Lightning (疾風迅雷).
I wrapped myself in lightning and dashed forward. I instantly overtook Ma Young-jae and blocked his path.
“Gu, guards! What are the guards doing?!”
Ma Young-jae, startled, fell backward. He got up again and shouted. I chuckled and pointed around.
The sinister-looking bodyguards in black suits were all dead. Most of them were cut into six or seven pieces.
It was Yang Yu-ra’s doing. She was a girl who liked to slice up enemies while looking like a middle schooler, as it was in the original story.
Thud.
Ma Young-jae slumped down in despair.
I slowly approached him. The blade of the Hwaryeon Flying Blades shone in the moonlight. I would cut off his limbs to prevent him from escaping. Since he was a Force user, he wouldn’t die even if his limbs were cut off.
“This can’t be… This can’t… This can’t be…”
Ma Young-jae muttered as if he had lost his mind. I got closer and raised the Hwaryeon Flying Blades.
“This can’t be!”
Ma Young-jae shouted and opened his mouth wide. A sharp tongue stretched out like rubber, aiming for my neck. I tilted my head to avoid the tongue.
“Sh, shit…”
“It’s too obvious. From the acting to everything, it’s too obvious.”
I knew from the beginning that he was preparing a trump card. I went along with it because I thought there might be something interesting, but it was nothing. I looked at his face with disappointment. His body and face had grown larger. He had changed to look similar to the toad woman I had seen earlier.
“…You’re not human, are you?”
Ma Young-jae took a breath. Then he shouted.
“Feedback! Feedback! Feedback! Come and kill this bastard!”
“Do you think that bastard would come here? He’s probably sleeping at home.”
Zzzzzzzzzzt.
Space split open, and someone appeared. I swung the Hwaryeon Flying Blades and sent a sword aura flying. Not at the split space, but at Ma Young-jae.
“Kuaaaaargh!”
Ma Young-jae’s legs were cut off. As Ma Young-jae fell, the man appeared. A man with a sturdy build, with a very developed upper body compared to his lower body.
“Hahaha. Feedback has arrived!”
The man said and waved his hand. A sword aura flew towards me.
