Chapter 2133 – 2133. Eternal Eden
“Resurrecting the dead… What kind of bizarre talk is that?”
Son Tae-hyung couldn’t hold back his words. At his serious question, the eyes of the cleaners turned to him. They were surprised that Son Tae-hyung, who always worked silently with dead eyes, had spoken first.
“So, Mr. Son can talk too. Well, it’s just a rumor. Does it make any sense that a dead person can come back to life?”
Most of the cleaners nodded. Suddenly, the D virus spread across the world, causing a zombie outbreak, and those who had awakened superpowers appeared, but it was common sense that the dead could not come back to life.
Zombies? Who could say that they were resurrected? In the first place, zombies weren’t corpses but living creatures. At least their hearts were still beating.
“I saw it last time when we were rescuing people trapped in their homes, right? Back then, a woman was attacked by a zombie and her neck was torn off, but I saw with my own eyes that Representative Sung healed her completely.”
“That’s not resurrecting the dead, that’s healing.”
“Her neck was half torn off, you know? That injury is instant death. A person who died instantly got up and moved normally, so that’s resurrection! And that woman wasn’t even infected!”
“Hey. You’re talking nonsense. It wasn’t an injury that would kill her in the first place. And the infection… maybe she was just lucky.”
“Lucky my ass. There’s no vaccine, so even awakened ones are done for if they get infected. Representative Sung must be able to resurrect the dead!”
“Okay, be quiet! If the manager hears us having this conversation… we’ll be imprisoned. You know how shitty the detention center is!”
“The detention center… right. We have to be careful what we say if we don’t want to be dragged there. The prisoners in the detention center eat animal feed instead of food, they say.”
“Our work is shitty, but it’s much better than the prisoners in the detention center. At least we don’t fill our bellies with feed.”
The cleaners’ conversation shifted to the detention center. They comforted themselves by talking about the prisoners locked up in the detention cells, saying that they were better off.
Son Tae-hyung couldn’t hear their conversation. His mind was complicated. There was nothing certain. Resurrecting the dead was just a rumor.
But what if that rumor was true? It was a world where zombies appeared and people had superpowers. It wasn’t impossible that there was a superpower to bring the dead back to life.
‘…Even if Representative Sung has such an ability, there’s no way he’d use it for me.’
Sung Yu-jin was the one who created the order of the current Sungak Elementary School. A dictator who had thrown democracy into the mud. The Constitution of the Republic of Korea had no meaning here. Sung Yu-jin’s will was the law.
‘Representative Sung is a man of clear rewards and punishments. If I prove my abilities and make contributions… maybe I can receive benefits from Representative Sung.’
The images of his beloved wife and lovely daughter flickered before Son Tae-hyung’s eyes.
Resurrecting the dead was absurd. It was against the truth. His Father in heaven would not allow it.
But even if he fell into hell, he wanted to see his family.
‘…In the first place. If God existed, he shouldn’t have made the world like this. Does hell even exist?’
The former pastor abandoned his last remaining faith.
As a cleaner, how could he make contributions? Focus on cleaning duties? That was impossible. No matter how cleanly he cleaned, he couldn’t escape his status.
Son Tae-hyung thought of two ways.
One was to report. To find and report impure elements. Of course, reporting itself wasn’t good, so his social reputation could fall.
The other was to volunteer for the periodic zombie extermination. It was dangerous to fight zombies with his life on the line, but it was perfect for making contributions. If he was lucky, he could join the security team after just one extermination.
Son Tae-hyung decided to do both.
He reported a fellow cleaner. While cleaning up trash, sometimes intact items would appear. Originally, these items were supposed to be given to the manager. But the cleaners would take the intact trash while watching the manager’s eyes. Son Tae-hyung reported that cleaner to the manager. He received money as a reward.
“You, you dirty bastard! You were a pastor, and yet you do this?! You sold out your colleague for a few pennies?! You sold out your colleague! Do you think you’ll be able to live well after doing this?!”
The cleaner was dragged to the detention center, spewing hatred. Originally, it was right to hide the reporter, but because it was such a closed place, rumors spread about who the reporter was. Son Tae-hyung didn’t care.
From that day on, Son Tae-hyung became a construction worker instead of a cleaner. He mainly dug the ground and built houses. The treatment was much better than that of a cleaner. However, because he became a worker through reporting, his colleagues didn’t approach him. Son Tae-hyung didn’t care about this either.
A notice he had been waiting for was posted on the community bulletin board. It was an announcement for recruiting an extermination squad for safety and expansion. Son Tae-hyung immediately volunteered for the extermination squad.

Recently, information about my abilities was circulating within Sungak Elementary School. Everyone knew about the lightning, and my healing ability was becoming known.
‘Did I use my healing ability too openly last time?’
Rumors were subtly spreading that I could even resurrect the dead. Of course, no one easily believed it. Logically, resurrecting the dead didn’t make sense.
‘I have to hide that at least. I should be more careful using my abilities from now on.’
It might be okay to reveal my healing ability at this point. Just to the extent that I can heal injuries.
‘But I can’t use my healing ability on just anyone. I should only give benefits to those who will become my slaves.’
Discrimination was essential.
That way, the class society I wanted would become more solid.
I spread out a map on the desk. A map centered around Sungak Elementary School.
‘Sungak Elementary School is reaching its saturation point.’
I had accepted people as they came, thinking that I should increase the size first. Of course, I went through a primary screening process.
‘The stockpiled food is fine. The problem is that there isn’t enough space for people to stay.’
I had them build container boxes in the playground and even build houses out of planks. But that was also reaching its limit. Too many people had gathered.
‘I need to expand Sungak Elementary School.’
I didn’t plan to break down the existing walls. I was thinking of building new walls around Sungak Elementary School to create an outer village.
‘Slaves should live among themselves.’
I wanted to take over and dominate the entire Seoul, but… unfortunately, I didn’t have the capacity to do that right now. The government was still alive. At least it was maintaining a level of national system.
‘I might have to fight the Korean government later… so for now, I need to focus on training troops and making weapons.’

On the day of the extermination.
I turned around at the school gate entrance. About 120 people were standing in an orderly manner. Half of them were from the security team, and the other half were those who had volunteered for this extermination squad. Surprisingly, quite a few women had also volunteered.
Among them, only the security team had guns. The rest were armed with melee weapons like spears, bats, and swords. Well, I was also carrying a sword.
“The population of Sungak Elementary School is increasing day by day.”
If you look online, there are rumors that Sungak Elementary School is safe and has a lot of supplies. Seeing that, families were coming to Sungak Elementary School. More than 70% of them died on the way.
“However, the space in Sungak Elementary School is limited. The time has come to expand the land. But we can’t just expand blindly. We lack materials such as construction materials. We will be collecting materials from furniture stores, supermarkets, and hardware stores located 2km away.”
They were all abandoned anyway. Even if we take them all, no one will say anything. Even if there was an owner, we could just kill the owner and take them.
“Those who make contributions will receive appropriate rewards, and those who disrupt order will be punished. Let’s go.”
I started moving with my troops. It felt pretty good to see over 100 guys groveling at my words. A drone flew slowly in the sky, following behind.
The drone’s role was reconnaissance. If Na Chae-young discovered something through the camera on the drone, she would let me know.
-Five zombies ahead.
Na Chae-young’s indifferent voice came through the earpiece. It reminded me of the past. The first time, Na Chae-young’s voice was stiff and nervous.
‘Five zombies are nothing.’
I gestured to the security team nearby. The security team, who had gained some experience, quickly dealt with the five zombies with silenced pistols.
The volunteers, who were ordinary people, loaded the dead zombies onto carts. Zombies and other creatures could be put into the decomposer to obtain resources.
As we moved forward, zombies kept popping up. There was no need for me to step in directly; the soldiers dealt with the zombies.
The only times I stepped in directly were when there were too many zombies or when a variant appeared.
Variants were dangerous. They were difficult for even awakened ones to deal with. The really powerful variants were difficult for even me to deal with right now.
‘Fortunately, it doesn’t seem like there are any variants that powerful in Seoul.’
We arrived at a large supermarket. I first sent the drone to scout the inside.
-It’s been looted. There are some toys left that aren’t very helpful for survival… but they’re not worth much as resources either.
“Are there no materials like iron, wood, or paint?”
-No. It seems like a group of survivors took everything.
A group of survivors.
As the world had become like this, people had started to band together. It was natural for families to band together, and it was common for apartment complexes to band together as well.
“What about zombies inside?”
-There are zombie corpses. They’re decaying. Looking at the wounds, it seems like they were killed with something like a golf club. …It’s pretty bad. It would be difficult with the strength of an ordinary human.
“It must be an awakened one.”
As time passed, awakened ones were appearing. There were a few awakened ones in Sungak Elementary School as well. They were 1-star (★) awakened ones who weren’t very helpful.
‘At least there won’t be any technologists or bionics. They can use the decomposer, so they would have taken everything without leaving any corpses.’
I took my eyes off the supermarket and said to the soldiers.
“There’s no time to rest here. Let’s keep moving.”
