Chapter 1943 – 1943. Dark Moon

I was bewildered.

How was this happening?

Astaroth, who had suddenly appeared, approached me and used one of her powers. In the original setting, one of her powers was seeing the past and the future. Astaroth enjoyed seeing the future of humans, so she must have seen the future.

And as expected, she laughs, saying she saw the future. Then, she gestures as if to seduce me, and suddenly looks up at the empty air.

The air tore open, and a multicolored lightning bolt struck Astaroth.

I was bewildered. Truly bewildered.

‘Astaroth was suddenly attacked? By whom? What is that lightning?’

From Astaroth’s appearance to her being struck down by the multicolored lightning.

‘Even if I don’t know anything else, I know that this lightning is special.’

The multicolored lightning that had electrocuted Astaroth didn’t disappear but was still wrapped around her body.

‘What is this?’

It was obvious at a glance that it wasn’t just ordinary lightning. But as I kept watching it, it felt strange.

It felt somehow familiar.

‘I’ve never seen lightning like this before. Is it lightning created by magic? Or lightning created by natural forces? I can’t even guess which one it is.’

It was unknown.

The unknown is fear. The unknowable is frightening in itself. Whether it was magic or something else, it was unknown to me. I should be afraid. But I didn’t feel any fear at all. Instead, I found this lightning beautiful. I wanted to have it. I felt an intense, thirst-like greed.

Astaroth, electrocuted, trembled.

The 72 demons. The 29th-ranked demon god was terrified to the point of being pathetic.

I, who had played the original game, knew Astaroth’s true form. I knew her true power, which was close to that of a god. That’s why I knew how absurd her current state was. That was clearly the fear of death.

‘Dying? The 72 demons are immortal. They are called demons, but their essence is no different from gods.’

If Astaroth were to reveal her true form, the Highst Empire would be destroyed in less than a day.

‘That lightning is killing Astaroth. It’s killing an immortal god…!’

It was thrilling and desirable at the same time.

Astaroth reaches out to me.

“S-save me.”

Astaroth begging for her life. It was a shocking sight, but Astaroth didn’t enter my eyes. Only the multicolored lightning that was killing her caught my attention. The multicolored lightning shone brilliantly from her outstretched hand.

I shouldn’t grab it. It’s dangerous. It was clear that an enormous concept was embedded in it, to the point that Astaroth couldn’t even use her hands.

Ignoring my reason, which was desperately trying to stop me, I reached out my hand.

I had a vague certainty. That this lightning wouldn’t harm me.

The moment I grabbed Astaroth’s hand.

The multicolored lightning flowed into me and immediately burrowed into my astral.

A mage’s mind, the astral. For a mage, the most important thing was this mind. Only with the astral could mana be transformed into the miracle of magic.

“……!!”

Bang!

Along with the explosion, my astral burst. No, that’s how it felt. In reality, my astral expanded as if it had exploded.

The level of my consciousness rose infinitely.

Something flashed by.

Was it the past? The future? Or just a delusion?

I couldn’t tell. I couldn’t see them or touch them. I instinctively knew that they were things that I couldn’t dare to touch in my current state.

The lightning grabbed my consciousness and pulled it upwards.

Upwards.

Like a dragon ascending to the sky.

Skimming the heavens, passing through the universe, beyond fate, to the end of truth.

I realized that someone was calling me.

That place was the graveyard of the universe.

A place filled with transcendental corpses.

A being was looking at me. I also looked at that being.

A mage daring to stand on the corpse of Metatron. The mage looked at me with eyes that seemed to contain the universe. Finally, I could see the mage’s face. He was me.

“You’re still a long way off.”

The mage waved his hand.

At that moment, my mind flew backward as if time was rewinding.

When I suddenly came to my senses, Astaroth was leaning on my hand, getting up. The pitiful expression she had when she was begging for help was gone, replaced by an arrogant and lewd smile.

‘I saved her, and she’s already planning to wipe her mouth?’

Isn’t that a bit too shameless?

“You fell for my prank!”

Astaroth said.

A prank?

Looking at her face, I could see cold sweat running down her cheek.

‘Ah, right. The broadcast was still going on. Astaroth knows that too.’

What should I do?

Should I ignore her and give her the cold shoulder? Or should I play along?

I was feeling pretty good right now. Perhaps because of what had just happened, my astral had forcibly expanded, reaching level 6. On top of that, I felt an unknown knowledge. I wanted to check my body right away, but I had to finish what I was doing now.

“…That was quite an amusing prank, Astaroth.”

There was no reason to be hostile to Astaroth.

Like the 6th Legion Commander, she seemed to be friendly towards me. I didn’t know why. The spiritist 6th Legion Commander said that my mana affinity was high, so spirits were friendly to me. Was it the same because of my mana affinity? Or was there another reason?

“Hehe. Right? This makes the atmosphere lighter, doesn’t it? I don’t really like the rigid relationship between demons and summoners.”

Her tone was somehow light. It seemed too light for a transcendental being. But I decided to let it go. Astaroth was originally a very fickle being.

“Shall we receive the sacrifices first?”

Astaroth turned her head. The 167 sacrifices who were prostrating themselves just waited quietly.

“I don’t usually accept such low-quality sacrifices. But you, who offered the sacrifices, were quite interesting. So, I’ll make an exception and accept these trash.”

“May I ask what you will do with them?”

“I’ll do this.”

As Astaroth finished speaking, the 167 people screamed in unison.

“Aaaaaaaah!”

They stood up abruptly from their prostrated positions, as if it had been a lie, and vomited blood.

Some had their arms twisted, some had their eyes burst, and some had their heads melting.

In various ways, the 167 people were dying all at once. I realized that none of them were dying in the same way.

In less than 30 seconds, all 167 people had fallen to the ground and died. When the smell of blood and filth stung my nose, the dead bodies floated up into the air and were torn to shreds.

Kaaaaaaaah!

It was a more terrible scream than anything I had heard before.

The corpses were screaming? There were corpses with their heads burst or missing. Those weren’t the screams of corpses, but of souls. The screams of souls being torn apart.

“I’ve received the offering, so it’s a demon’s job to give something in return. What do you want? Tell me. Shall I show you the ultimate pleasure of hell?”

Astaroth raised her hand, swept back her dazzling blonde hair, slightly bent her waist to emphasize her chest, and slightly slipped her high-heeled foot.

Face, chest, buttocks, waist, armpits, from the inside of her thighs to her neckline. She revealed her physical beauty, stimulating a man’s desires. Any normal man would have immediately become aroused and drooled. But I knew Astaroth’s true form. Thinking about it, my lust decreased sharply.

“Oh my. It doesn’t work? I thought you were about to reveal yourself… Hmm. You’re still fine even after smelling my scent. Even a high monk who has trained for decades can’t handle it… You’re surprisingly well-disciplined. Well, that’s why that ridiculous future…”

Astaroth, who had muttered to herself, dropped her pose and asked me.

“I can’t stay long. I’ve overdone it a bit by coming to a ritual that doesn’t suit my level. So, tell me quickly what you want.”

“You intend to properly respond to the ritual.”

“I told you, I liked you.”

Astaroth came closer to me. She pressed her body against mine. My arm went between her ample breasts. I felt a momentary dizziness. Even though I knew that an absurd monster was inside that body. Fortunately, Astaroth didn’t realize that I had wavered.

“Do you want magical knowledge? Lost ancient techniques? History that the powerful desperately want to hide?”

None of them were ordinary.

And I knew that she wouldn’t grant them just because I wanted them.

To be precise, it was impossible.

Transcendental beings like demons, angels, and gods couldn’t use their power recklessly in this world.

‘They give power in proportion to the price they receive. 167 humans. Even if some 3rd or 4th level humans were among them, they would be nothing more than that to Astaroth. There’s no way I could get the magical knowledge I want with just this.’

So, I had to want something else.

What suddenly came to mind was information about the Alpha Tier Pharmaceutical Company. Astaroth had the power to see the past and the future, so she would be able to tell me the secret information of Alpha Tier.

‘The information I can get with just 167 people will be limited, but….’

Then, suddenly, a business idea came to mind.

The things I could get personally were limited. Then, shouldn’t I at least get some business benefits?

“It’s almost dinner time, so I’m getting hungry. Please give me the most delicious chicken in the world.”

[Wind Whisper]

I used a level 3 auxiliary magic to convey a small voice to her.

-Please summon Yuyu Chicken.

Astaroth laughs as if amused. Didn’t I play along with her earlier? Then she should play along too.

Fortunately, Astaroth acted as I wanted.

“Okay. The most delicious chicken in the world, you say?”

Snap!

When she snapped her fingers, a box of Yuyu Chicken appeared.

I received the chicken with a reverent attitude. I didn’t forget to show the Yuyu Chicken brand to the camera.

“This is the most delicious chicken in the world….”

“It’s the chicken you get after offering 167 people to me. Why don’t you taste it yourself?”

I turned my back to the camera. I slightly took off my mask and took a big bite of a fried chicken drumstick.

Crunch!

The sound alone was delicious. It was actually delicious too.

“It’s delicious…!”

I was constantly impressed and impressed with myself as a businessman.

‘The most delicious chicken in the world recognized by a demon… The promotion is amazing.’

And not just any demon, but the certification of Astaroth, one of the 72 demons.

I could already hear the sound of money piling up in my ears.
