Chapter 31 – From Ancient Times.
Seeing Lena’s naked body, he took a deep breath.
“That means I can’t move alone.”
Originally, I didn’t mind seeing my twin’s naked body like this. So casually, we took a bath together. I had a strange feeling today. For some reason, I was curious enough about that small chest and the cracks in my twins that were spread out randomly. If it was normal, I might have thought nothing of it and rejected it. No, I would have rejected it even if I thought it was strange.
“…However I don’t know.”
But now, wanting to forget this situation even a little bit, I reached out to that unknown temptation. The first thing he did was pour her water into her gourd in her bathroom and pour it over her. In his mind, he wanted to touch his twin’s body right away, but it seemed like he needed an excuse to wash it.
“Oh, it’s cold!”
“Be patient.”
Slowly tilting the gourd as far as possible to wet the entire body of her twin, she applied the water little by little. Just as their mother did, avoiding her hair and only wetting her body. The gourd filled with water was heavy, so my hands trembled and I failed to control the water, but I was able to cover all the water.
“Your clothes are wet too.”
It was a problem that he failed to adjust and even his clothes got wet. Seeing that the front of her was completely soaked, he took off her clothes as did Lena. He thought he needed to wash himself too, but he felt strongly that he wanted to. While he was naked, he also sprayed water on his body, but it felt strange. Except for the fact that her mother isn’t there, she’s just washing as usual. It felt a little embarrassing for the two of them to be naked in this situation. Still, he had a greater curiosity.
“Then, do you wash?”
“Huh.”
Tom felt guilty at the sight of his twin, who did not know his true intentions and just entrusted himself to him, but soon the guilt grew and he was eaten up by his curiosity. I really didn’t mind Today, I was worried about Lena’s brown hair like mine and those dark eyes that didn’t know anything. What worries me more is that. It’s her little chest and the rift that sits down there. As she reached out and put her hand on her chest, there was a soft sensation. Compared to him in size, there is not much difference, but there is a lump somewhere. There was nothing special, but I couldn’t figure out what stimulated me so much that I wanted to touch it, so I kept touching it.
“Are you not washing anywhere else?”
“No, that’s right.”
When the moisture disappeared from her breasts due to the subtle heat created by the skin to skin meeting before anyone knew it, Lena’s words made Tom very embarrassed, wondering if he had been caught. Even so, I sprayed the water again and wiped her body with my hands so as not to be unnatural. Her skin was soft, but she somehow didn’t have as much pounding as when she was touching her breasts. At least when I touched her hips and legs, I had a similar feeling, but nonetheless.
“Stay still.”
“Huh.”
The space between his legs he was about to wash made his heart throb especially. I felt my heart pounding like crazy, just like when I was playing a prank that could get scolded by adults. He sprayed the water again, letting it run down Lena’s belly, and slowly and slowly crawled behind her, trying to reach her hand toward it. But again, Tom was afraid. He wonders what the heck is he doing himself. Can I really do this? What if your mom sees this situation right now? He finally stopped his outstretched hand. Let him realize what an act he was trying to escape from reality. The first thing that came to him was a deep sense of shame.
“Let’s wash up and leave.”
“Why?”
The sight of her twin looking at him through her innocent eyes, as if she didn’t even know what she was trying to do to her, made her feel uneasy.
“At a time like this, when they come, I have to wash up quickly and leave.”
As if she remembered something she had forgotten about his words, Lena quickly washed her body with her bluish face. After washing himself, Tom, along with his twin, returned cautiously to the room in which he had first awakened. But they weren’t really like the first time. It was enough to wipe the body with a dry cloth or towel, but their clothes were wet and showed no sign of drying out no matter how hard they squeezed them. Because of this, they had to stay in the room naked. When her mother dried her clothes, she remembered hanging them out on her rope stretched taut in the air, but they lacked the strength or height to do so, and there were things like that going around outside.
They weren’t big enough to hang out their clothes at a leisurely pace with such horrible things going around. In the end, the limit was to wring out the wet clothes as much as they could and spread them around the room.
“Oh, get away.”
“No! It’s scary!”
The two of them were naked and covered in a blanket together. Tom felt uncomfortable about being naked because of what she was trying to do with Lena, so he tried to get away, but she clung to her tightly.
“Clothes, when will they dry?”
“Perhaps it should stay longer.”
He answered Lena’s words, trying not to be conscious of her naked body, which felt attached to her. It was cold not long after I washed it, but I felt it getting warmer as time passed because we were together under the blanket. How long have you been in a daze?
“Saejae saek.”
“Hey, are you sleeping?”
Tom was dumbfounded at the sight of her hugging him and making a small breathing sound. He muttered as he looked at Lena, who was sleeping defenselessly, not knowing what he was about to do.
“Sorry.”
I couldn’t figure out why that action was wrong. Still, for some reason, I thought it was something I shouldn’t have done, so I apologized as if muttering quietly, even though I probably wouldn’t even hear it. I was still concerned about her body being so close to him, but I didn’t want to do that anymore, so I spent a quiet time hugging my twin. The light still seeping through the cracks in the house said it was daytime, but I fell asleep naturally as I was doing nothing in the dark house. According to Lena, she slept for a very long time, but she was drowsy at the end because of the constant flow of sleep.
– Kiririririk!
Suddenly, a sharp cry was heard.
“Town!”
It wasn’t long before I heard the cry, but I could feel it instinctively. It was their cries. Drowsiness ran away from that creepy sound, and when I looked around, I could see the pitch-black darkness without even the faint light that had told me that it was daytime. While he was sleeping, night came. I wondered if my twin had been beaten. I felt her still in my arms as I groped in her dark room. She hadn’t woken up yet, apparently tired, but it was important that she was alive. Had she been left alone, she might have strangled to death in her terror. Tom understood why she had woken her up even when she heard her mother’s screams and hit herself for not getting up.
-Kagagagak!
But the horror didn’t just end there. Another cry came from the other side. At night, the room was filled with darkness.
– Kigeek.
-Kiggy Geek!
I could hear their cries and rustles, and even sounds like they were crawling on walls and roofs. The confidence that I thought that if I just hid here, I couldn’t be found out by them, I was gradually losing myself. As I got used to the dark room, I saw a faint light shining through a crack in the house that I hadn’t noticed before. It seemed like it was moonlight, but it might have been better not to notice the light. All the lights seeping through the cracks in the house were flickering as they moved.
It was terrifying even when I heard it only as a sound, but when I saw the horror in person, even the screams were swallowed up. Then the moment I thought I encountered something like their pupils in the gap of light.
– Kaga gak gak gak!
The creepy bastard’s cry grew louder. It wasn’t like a simple animal cry. The deep malice I felt the moment I thought we had met said that it was laughter. Did you just notice something? The thump-thump sounds of them smashing the house were heard from all directions. I thought it was a bit envious that I didn’t know about this situation even though I shook my twins, who were supposed to wake up from that sound, but didn’t wake up saying that they had to run away. How long did they keep crashing into the house? Soon, along with a crackling sound, I heard the sound of wooden boards being ripped apart.
– Kagagak!
After failing to wake up his twin and run away, he hugged Lena as if to protect her and covered her head with a blanket to hide. I didn’t know how meaningful it would be to hide under the blanket, but I tried to hide and hide as much as I could.
-Kiririk?
While holding your breath as much as possible. I could hear their footsteps running around and their cries overhead. Did you already notice? When I was hiding under a blanket, forgetting to breathe.
– Kagak.
I felt the sound of their clattering footsteps getting farther and farther away. They didn’t notice that they were hiding under the covers. Lived I thought.
“Keuk!?”
If it hadn’t been for the sudden, sharp feeling that pressed against his back. It wasn’t sharp enough or strong enough to pierce the blanket or pierce his body, but it was so heavy that Tom, who had been caught off guard for a moment, could only let out a painful roar. The sound of them walking all at once stopped. He didn’t even bother checking, he could tell that the blood had drained from his face.
-Kagagakak!
His cries could be heard through a thick blanket. It was a fairly thick blanket, but the fear of not thinking that the blanket was thick at all approached me. The moment when more and more sounds approach and the blanket covering them shakes.
-Kooung!
A huge shock shook his entire body. No, it wasn’t that his body was shaking. The whole ground on which they were hiding was shaking. Could it be an earthquake? But the timing was oddly good for an earthquake to occur under these circumstances. Also, Tom, who was unintentionally putting his ear to the ground, heard a sound as if something big impact hit the ground right before the ground shook. The biggest question of all was why I couldn’t hear their voices anymore.
“Um, what are you talking about?”
“Are you awake now?”
The sound of the earth shaking seemed to have woken up my twin as well.
“Rather than that, why are we covering all the blankets?”
“Hey, wait!”
But I’d rather sleep. Lena didn’t understand the situation and she lifted the blanket without hesitation. Tom closed his eyes, thinking they were going to attack, but all he could hear was her strange voice.
“Here, where are we? When did we get here?”
“What is that…”
His voice, which was about to ask if it was bullshit, could not continue. After a while, I heard the sound of something collapsing, and when I looked there, something like a small, unknown stick stood tall and fell. But he was able to figure out the stick’s identity. Those were their legs. But why? Why did they disappear without a trace, leaving only part of that bridge behind? When in doubt. I heard my twin’s voice again.
“Oh! There’s a person! Let’s ask for help!”
“What?”
When I looked where Lena was looking, not knowing what Lena was saying. Tom felt a cold chill through his body. It had a human shadow. It was walking it was huge It was an iron. I only saw it from a distance, but it felt like I was facing the only natural enemy in the world. Even when I saw them, I wasn’t as frightened as this. Tom hastily grabbed his twin as they ran towards it.
“Ah! It hurts! Why are you stopping me?!”
“You can’t go!!”
“Why not?”
“Can’t you see it?! That’s not like a person!”
I could feel it instinctively. It was human in shape, but not human. Even though it is moving on its own, it does not feel like life at all. It was just like inorganic iron.
“Then what if it’s not a person?”
“…I don’t know either.”
He couldn’t even explain in detail. Because it was the first time I had ever seen anything like this. The only thing I can be sure of is that I was never kind to them. How could I understand what he was saying? Lena no longer wanted to approach it. Tom took her and hid under her blanket again. She whined that she was frustrated, but now she could only pray that they hadn’t been caught by that one. I spent the night holding my breath in such tension. Then he woke up to the sensation of his body shaking. He seemed to have fallen asleep while hiding, and he could see the sunlight filtering through the dark blanket.
“Is it morning?”
Thinking that it hadn’t found them, I looked outside through the gap in the blanket without letting go of my tension. However, with this form, only the nearby land could be seen, so when I lifted the blanket and widened the gap, I could hear Lena’s voice as she was immersed in sleep.
“Ugh, it’s cold.”
“Hey! What if I take all the blankets!”
And because of her taking all the blankets she was covering with her, Tom was exposed outside with her naked body. Thinking that there might be another such thing, I stopped shouting and looked around, but luckily I didn’t see anything. But the problem was that there was nothing too much.
“What’s this.”
Tom looked at the black wasteland in vain. Yesterday he couldn’t see properly because of strange bugs and things like him, but there was no longer what he could call a village where he looked. Only the green forest surrounding the village existed as usual.
“This is the town we used to live in, isn’t it?”
Awakened by him, Lena rubbed her eyes as if she hadn’t shaken off her slumber yet, and asked,
“Perhaps.”
Someone wouldn’t have moved them, and a night’s sleep wouldn’t have changed their location.
“Then where did all the villagers and their houses go?”
Tom couldn’t comment on Lena’s words. He checked the giant insects and that they were gone. He went down to the original village and looked around, but he couldn’t find anyone anywhere. At most, there were barely any house sites left, and most of them disappeared without even leaving a site. If you look at the bricks that were the walls of a house that were barely left, they appear to have been cut at an angle, and the cross-section was so clean that it reflected the shape of something else like the surface of water. As if it was originally a single stone. I didn’t know what kind of magic it used to make the houses disappear so neatly.
All that remains are the bottoms of the few houses and ash dust that has blackened what used to be a village. Tom and Lena were searching around the places that had been houses, mainly in the least intact places, to find any villagers who might be there. However, no matter how much I searched, there was no human being to the extent that it was questionable whether this place was originally inhabited. Just the other day, it was a town where I had definitely lived with kind neighbors and mother, but no one was in sight. I would have thought that this place would be a different place if all the things and even the house had disappeared neatly.
“Is this Uncle Mac’s house?”
Tom rummaged through the items in the house, where there were a lot of things that had fallen on the floor, and found a name written on a piece of wood.
“But why do girls’ clothes look like this…”
I wondered if Uncle Mac had a daughter, but when I thought Lena would wear it later, I heard a voice calling for him.
“Brother Brother!!”
“Uh! Why?!”
I wondered if they were still there, but I was relieved because the voice wasn’t so urgent. Rather, in a voice that seemed to be pleased, he answered roughly while packing things that looked fine. They were no longer naked. The clothes I washed yesterday were dry and I was able to wear them. Because it was buried in something like ash powder, it looked like it was wearing gray clothes, but it couldn’t be helped now.
“Brother! Look here!”
While he was packing his things, Lena’s voice came right behind him. If you look back to see if the guy who whined about the villagers asking where he went just a moment ago is so happy. I saw my twin holding something like a gray rice cake. The moment I was about to ask what it was that made me so happy. Rice cake barked at him.
-Kang! Catch up! Kang!
“…Puppy?”
It was obviously a puppy that was sneezing and barking cutely because it was covered in ash powder. Now I see that it was covered in ash powder, so it looked gray, but when I brushed it off with my hand, some white hairs were revealed.
“Where did you find him?”
“Hey!”
She asked, thinking that she had managed to hide well in the midst of this chaos, and the place she pointed to was the site of another house.
“Are there any other kids?”
“Yeah, he was moaning all by himself.”
I remember that it was the house of a hunter who raised hounds there. If so, this puppy must be the pup of the hunter’s dog. Then, suddenly, I felt uneasy.
“Hey, let’s take him!”
I was afraid, but it was like that.
“Ha, yes. Take me with you.”
Still, she had no intention of rejecting it. It was pitiful to see him covered in ash powder, and it was obvious that he would die if left alone. He walked with Lena, who was hugging the puppy.
“But where are we going?”
“Let’s find another town for now. It can’t be helped.”
No matter how much I looked for people here, I couldn’t find them. Tom was also anxious about not knowing what had become of her mother, but she still had twins left with him. Finding a way to live was the first thing.
