Chapter 151 – Completion Review
Hello!
My name is Everytime, the author of Returning to Train the Iljin Women.
The long-running novel has ended with episode 150.
Actually, it wasn’t that I had any regrets as I reached the end.
It would have been better if it went this way, and I still have some regrets, such as if I had prepared more, such as why I didn’t think of this at the time, but I will still be satisfied with the fact that I wrote one story to the end.
Now, let’s talk about the novel.
1. The reason I started writing a novel
What prompted me to write this novel was that when Novelpia held a write-it event, I thought, should I participate? It started with this thought.
So I thought a lot about what kind of novel to write. As those of you who mainly read Novelpia will know, I thought about writing mainly strong academic and pachydermic books.
However, I felt that the content of the Write Me event wanted novels of different genres rather than those types of novels, and I was thinking about what other genres there were besides the mainstream.
What had a great influence on me at that time was the drama ‘The Glory.’
A story about a protagonist whose life was ruined by school violence in the past, who grows up and takes revenge on the villains.
At the time The Glory was airing, I wasn’t even thinking about it because I’m the type of person who doesn’t usually watch dramas. I heard from people around me that it was fun, but I didn’t touch it and didn’t pay much attention until it ended.
Then one day, I suddenly remembered it and watched the first episode on Sunday morning…
It was really fun.
I watched everything from the first episode to the last episode in one day. I lost track of time.
Then I thought, why not write a story like that? It’s a story about a protagonist who has been unfairly harmed by others and takes revenge on the villains.
2. Novel setting.
After deciding what kind of novel to write, I read novels of similar genres.
It was definitely fun. It’s refreshing to see scenes where the villains torment the protagonist and cry.
Then, as I read the comments on the novel, what bothered me sometimes was its realism.
Is it possible to kidnap a person without leaving any trace?
Is it possible to continue to manage the kidnapping and not get caught in the investigation net of other police officers?
Trying to logically explain these things gave me quite a headache. There may be readers who read without paying attention to this part, but there will definitely be people who point this out.
So, while thinking about what to do, what came to mind was magic.
What if the main character has magic? What if you could easily solve problems that shake probability with that?
By adding the setting of magic, I think I was able to focus less on the plausibility part and more on the scenes that make the villains suffer, which is the main content of the novel.
3. Conclusion
If you read the novel to the end, you will see that the main character and the heroine have a happy ending.
He took revenge on the villains and even connected with the heroine.
I had a lot of concerns about what to do with this ending.
There are two endings to revenge.
The main character, who has completed his revenge, ultimately faces a bitter bad ending, and the happy ending where he makes a new start.
I thought a lot about these two things.
Since the act of revenge itself is not a right act, is it right to give the main character a happy ending?
But still, wouldn’t it be okay to have the main character, whose life has been distorted, get revenge on the villains and live a new life?
I had a lot of trouble deciding between the two endings, and I favored the one where the main character gets a happy ending.
He tried to die with the guilt of what he had done, but he wanted to make a new start with that feeling in mind.
4. About TS
This is one of the things that I still regret a lot.
One of the reasons why a male character was included among the villains the protagonist seeks revenge on was the tag for the Write Me event.
As I was trying to win an event, I was looking for a suitable tag and thought it would be a good idea to include the married woman tag as well. Among the villains, I added a married woman and then added a character whose husband also committed school violence, so I created a male character.
Also, I thought it would be good to shock the male character mentally by destroying his masculinity and making it look like he was taking his wife in front of him when he was seeking revenge.
However, there was an unexpected feeling of resistance in this area…
If you think about it, those who came to read this novel were probably expecting to see a female villain being trained by a male protagonist, but they probably thought it was strange to see a male character being abused.
So, the male character was quickly sent off. So that only female villains appear.
And it ended by briefly appearing again at the end of the last episode’s revenge.
When I think about it now, I wonder if there was any need to introduce a male character like this. Or, I wonder what it would have been like if I had chosen a different method of revenge than destroying my masculinity.
I think this part is a bit disappointing.
5. Teaching materials
To be honest, it was a bit difficult in terms of training a female villain.
I thought about how I could make it more enjoyable for readers, so I came up with a variety of teaching methods, but I wasn’t sure if readers would enjoy reading it or be satisfied with it.
Moreover, if we proceed too aggressively in controlling the water level, we expect to quickly run out of materials, so we carefully selected which ones to use.
But eventually, the further back I went, the more material for teaching assistants I started to run out, and there was a limit to what I could come up with.
Also, I thought that showing the same teaching method would feel loose to readers, so I tried to keep writing new things, but it wasn’t easy.
Still, I thought I would make the most of it, so I ran so far and I think I was able to reach the end.
6. Heroine
The story I first thought of was about the main character taking revenge and ending the story.
In fact, there was no heroine setting itself.
However, as I was writing, I started to think about what it would be like to have a heroine who had the same pain as the main character, so I began to mention it little by little, and she first appeared in the novel when she met the main character at a convenience store.
Here, thanks to the setting where the main character can use magic, it seems to have been easy to create a story about saving the heroine.
I thought it would be good to show the protagonist embracing the heroine who is going through the same pain and regaining the humanity he lost through the heroine.
In addition, I think readers responded well to the appearance of the heroine, so I continued writing.
When I think about it now, I think it was a good idea to make it appear.
I think the protagonist will probably live a happy life like the heroine.
7. Lateness
I feel like I need to apologize once more for this.
As I got closer to the end of the novel, I became more and more late, and I have to say I’m really sorry for that.
In this life, when I suddenly become busy with other things, I don’t have enough time to write a novel, so I wrote it a little quickly in my free time and uploaded it that day without stopping, but in the end, being late is being late.
And eventually, there were cases where we had to take a hiatus.
I would like to express my sincere apologies for not being able to keep up with my promise to publish a series every day.
8. Next project
I’m telling you this because I think you might be wondering when and what kind of novel I will write next.
First of all, I plan to start my next project on August 31st.
I plan on taking the last train to the challenge event that ends at this time.
So, you will be able to see the next work right away.
And what I’m trying to write is a light academic piece that has the opposite tone from this novel. I wanted to try this genre.
In addition, I am trying to write a protagonist who is completely different from the protagonist of this novel.
Not just an idiot, but a normal protagonist.
If I were to tell you one thing about the main character, it would be that he is a force mage.
It would be good to think of a scene where the main character claims that he is using magic, but the people around him are beating him with real fists, not magic.
Based on this idiot protagonist, I’m going to write a novel that can be read with a light laugh.
I would like to express my gratitude once again to the many readers who followed along until the end.
I think I have to say that everything I was able to write up to this point is thanks to my readers.
It’s really hard to write a novel that no one follows.
If you enjoyed reading until the end, I am satisfied.
Thank you so much so far.
