Chapter 1890 – 1890. Eternal Eden
The NIS contacted me.
It wasn’t strange. After all, a CIA agent was openly operating. In fact, the fact that they contacted me after the CIA started moving was actually quite late.
Even when I appeared on TV, the NIS remained silent. I thought the government would reach out, but they didn’t at all. So, I just forgot about it. I didn’t really need the NIS or the state.
However, with the CIA openly making moves, the NIS couldn’t just sit idly by, so they contacted me.
The 4th Deputy Director of the NIS. Her name was Lee Yeon-hee, wasn’t it? It was quite unexpected that she was a woman. Judging by her voice, she seemed like a beauty. Her voice alone made me want to meet her.
‘But it’s true that I’m busy right now.’
I swung the small knife in my hand. The small blade pierced into David Kim’s shoulder, who was tied to a chair.
“Aaaah!”
David Kim screamed, not getting tired of it. I used the small knife to cut up David Kim’s body. Blood flowed from all over. I sprinkled salt on the wounds, and he howled like a beast. Just before he died, I grabbed his body and healed him.
‘Using recovery right before death is surprisingly less tiring than using it on a dead guy.’
Since using recovery right before death was less tiring, I was tormenting David Kim while adjusting accordingly.
Actually, I had already gotten everything I wanted from David Kim. There were a few CIA secrets, but nothing particularly important. What was important was that he had used his mental abilities to recruit Korean awakeners. And that I was included in that.
“Get a grip, you bastard. It’s only been a day, and you’re already losing it? Do you think you can just give up by losing it?”
I poured boiling hot water on David Kim’s head. His skin turned red instantly. His head burned, and he shook his head wildly, struggling. The veins in his neck were bulging. I skillfully stabbed a small knife into his neck.
I continued the torture, solely for the sake of pain. David Kim wasn’t a man of spirit. He was already begging me with a face that seemed half-crazed.
“P-please, spare me. I was wrong. Please let me out of here. I miss my mother.”
“I am sparing you. You missed your mom? Tell me where she is. I’ll bring her here.”
I grinned and poured sulfuric acid on his crotch. David Kim had to watch his genitals melt away while still alive. Normally, he would have fainted from the pain, but David Kim had become accustomed to the pain and no longer fainted from ordinary levels of it. He had grown in a welcome direction.
“Aaaaaaaaaaah!!”
“You’re under special management. You’ll never die, so you can rest assured. Even if you die, I’ll bring you back to life. Why don’t you try to buy my favor with that damn ability?”
I tortured him as it came to mind. For food, I cut off his limbs, ground them in a blender, and fed them to him. When I used recovery, his limbs would regenerate. I had completed a perpetual motion machine.
“J-just kill me! Kill me!!”
“I won’t kill you, I won’t kill you.”
Unfortunately, I couldn’t torture him all day. It was because of my stamina. The more I recovered him, the more my stamina decreased. When I wasn’t torturing him, I cut off his limbs and put him in a coffin.
‘It’s tiring to torture him myself. I need an automatic torture machine. I should have Na Chae-young teach torture techniques to the AI she’s making.’
Na Chae-young would hate it 100%, but what could she do when I told her to make it?
“The CIA! Do you think America will just let this go?! The CIA won’t stand still!! They’ll definitely retaliate against you! America doesn’t just stand by when they’re attacked!”
“You’re talking nonsense. I’m the one who was attacked. My woman was affected by your shitty mind control ability. If I had no mind at all, I might have wanted to do anything for you. Retaliation? That’s my right, of course. America or whatever, they touched me, so they have to pay the price.”
I plucked out David Kim’s fear-filled eyeballs and forced them into his mouth.
“Well, I’ll negotiate with the Americans. It’s tiring to fight America alone. But you’ll never get out of here, so don’t have any hope. If the Americans reject the negotiation… you’ll think Hitler was an angel.”
Bang!
I put David Kim in the coffin and went outside to breathe fresh air. The air was cool. Summer was almost over.
I got a call from Na Chae-young.
-Yujin. The CIA is here. Four of them. All armed, at the main gate of the elementary school. What should we do?
“Did they come to fight?”
-They say they want to resolve it through dialogue. They want us to hand over David Kim.
“Disarm them and tell them to come inside.”
I put the cutlass on my waist and headed to the reception room. I sat on the sofa with my feet on the table, and soon the security team brought in four CIA agents. One woman who looked Korean, and three white men.
“Mr. Sung. I apologize for David Kim’s rudeness. Our CIA is not your enemy.”
“Sit.”
“…Is David Kim safe? I’d like to see him myself.”
“I said sit.”
I spoke with murderous intent. Only then did they obey me. The white man who seemed to be the leader sighed as soon as he sat down. He looked at my feet, which were on the table instead of coffee or tea, and said in a heavy tone.
“It seems we’ve disappointed you greatly.”
“That bastard was a mental ability user. You knew and sent him here. You dare try to control my mind and then say it was rude? Do you think you can end it with just that?”
“We didn’t know David Kim was a mental ability user. He didn’t tell us about his abilities.”
“Oh, is that so? You didn’t know. So, I should just let it go because you didn’t know? Did you think I’d react like this?”
Swish.
I drew my cutlass. The agents’ faces hardened as they saw the silver blade of the cutlass. They instinctively reached for their waists, but their guns had all been confiscated.
“…We’ve brought a compensation plan that will satisfy you. Please listen to it and calm your anger.”
“Forget it. What I want is robot-related technology. The robot manufacturing technology and artificial intelligence technology that America is researching. I won’t ask for everything, just give me one of the latest technologies. Then I might calm down.”
“Is it for the Technologist? Do you know the value of the technologies you’re talking about?”
“You don’t want to give it? Then the negotiation is over.”
I got up and sliced off the man’s arm.
Thwack!
The man slowly turned his head and looked at his severed arm. He had a look of incomprehension, not understanding what had just happened.
They jumped up from their seats. Without weapons, they tried to run away rather than fight back. Some went for the door, others for the window. They scattered in all directions, increasing the chance that at least one of them would survive.
But outside the room, combat drones were already surrounding them. The combat drones aimed their guns at the fleeing men.
I slowly approached them.
The man with the severed arm gritted his teeth and said.
“We misjudged you. You’re not a hero, but a villain, an extreme terrorist.”
“It’s good that you understand me now.”
“…America doesn’t negotiate with villains. Can you handle that?”
“Can you handle me?”
I slowly cut off their limbs and killed them. I stuck their relatively intact heads on poles and hung them at the entrance. It was a bit barbaric, but nothing was as effective as displaying heads. The charge was that they were robbers who had invaded Sungak Elementary School.
It didn’t matter if pictures were taken and spread on the internet. The world was already nearing death. Looters were rampant. Even if a few of them died, there would be no criticism, but rather applause for their deaths.
“To really turn America into an enemy…”
Na Chae-young muttered, looking at the heads on display. She looked at me with a dumbfounded expression.
“It’s okay, we can win. This isn’t America.”
“Yeah. We can win. I should be arguing with that, but… I can’t think of anything to argue with.”
• • •
-Ah, those robbers were CIA agents? I guess CIA agents also rob people. I didn’t know that.
Lee Yeon-hee sneered over the phone.
The veins on the forehead of Kyle Munson, the head of the CIA’s Korean branch, bulged.
“Our agents were attacked! Is that all you have to say?!”
-I express my condolences. But why did you contact me?
“Secure that man and hand him over to us. Sung Yujin. That bastard has to pay the price.”
-Ha. Are you asking me to sell out a citizen of the Republic of Korea to you?
“We’re asking you to hand over a criminal!”
-Let’s pretend I didn’t hear that. And our NIS has nothing to do with this. Of course, we can’t allow you to do anything strange in Korea. I’ve warned you.
Click.
Lee Yeon-hee hung up the phone.
Kyle wanted to scream.
Then the phone rang again. It was the CIA Director.
-I’ve heard about the situation in Korea. First, I’m wondering if you’re in your right mind.
“…Director. Are you joking right now?”
Kyle didn’t have a good relationship with the current CIA Director. He had been demoted to the Korean branch because he had been pushed out by the current Director.
-I told you to recruit awakeners, but I never ordered you to manipulate the minds of the recruits. Rumors have already spread throughout the intelligence agencies of various countries that the CIA is using mental ability users. Our CIA’s reputation has fallen to the ground. How are you going to take responsibility for this?
“I didn’t know David Kim was a mental ability user.”
-Does not knowing solve the problem? And did you really not know? Someone of your caliber?
“……”
Of course, he knew. But Kyle Munson had actively used David Kim’s abilities. The ability to naturally gain the favor of the target.
If used carefully, there was no ability as powerful as this. Then, it suddenly occurred to him that he might have also been affected by David Kim’s ability, but he quickly dismissed it. That wasn’t important right now.
“We have to kill Sung Yujin. He’s of no help to America. I heard there’s a unit that deals with awakeners. Please send them before it’s too late. I’ll take all the responsibility.”
