From the day I started the act, whether it was painting rehabilitation or practice, tools that were said to help me draw pictures using magical powers flickered in front of my eyes.
I bought a black pen to see if I could use it, but there was no way it would work.
I had to think about it with a lot of ordinary tools in front of my eyes that people who are new to painting use, or only geeks who like crude taste.

However, I couldn’t give up drawing, so I had no choice but to choose the option of drawing with ordinary tools.
Still, it’s fortunate that you can use the same materials, including paint.
I had a similar feeling in the past, when I had to use almost only basic brushes in the program I used to draw.
Of course, at that time, I tried to draw with a tablet computer that I had bought and neglected, but it happened because the brush I was going to use did not work due to compatibility issues with the tablet app version.
The drawing tablet I was using was broken, so I had no other options, so I continued to use it like that while fixing the tablet and suffered a bit.
It reminds me of those days a lot, maybe because of the part where I can’t use it even though there are tools.
“Ghmm… Up to the sketch was plausible. It’s a headache starting from drawing the lines.”
The sketches were made using a graphite writing instrument similar to a type of pencil called a lead pencil.
To be honest, it was hard to feel a big difference from when I was sketching in modern times.
Drawing a line based on that sketch was a series of troublesome situations.
When drawing with a computer program, you draw on several transparent canvases called layers.
So, originally, if you create a new layer on top of the sketch, tracing on it, and then turn off the display of the sketch layer, the line drawing is finished.
Now, after drawing with lead pencil, I use a quill to draw lines on top of it.
Finally, you have to go through a complicated process of erasing the contents of the pencil with an eraser.
But what if the ink on the lead pencil comes off and gets erased while erasing?
The secondary work of twisting the body to naturally fill the empty ink part begins.
In fact, there are special tools such as a high-performance eraser and a canvas that can work with it, so it ends like this, I really didn’t want to imagine it without this.
‘Actually, layers are also layers…’
A sketch can be erased with an eraser, but the lines of a quill pen that uses ink cannot be erased once written.
If the line goes wrong, you just have to redraw it from the beginning…
Even though I don’t usually use Control + Z that much, I was keenly aware of its value after a long time.
“Oh, fuck…”
The good news is that the quality of the quill and ink is very good.
After a little practice, I was able to stably draw the line without the thickness of the line becoming a problem.
So, can’t we just make a function that cancels the drawing?
But there’s no way that’s possible with an analog picture, not a digital one.
Respect for not only the painters of this world, but also the painters and cartoonists of the pre-digital era was boiling.
To be honest, the level of effort and prudence that goes into the same work is different.

And since the tools have changed, there was also a reason that it needed time to adapt.
Even the parts that I normally don’t make mistakes, because the feeling is different when the tool is different, so I keep making mistakes.
It really makes me want to commit suicide whenever a line is drawn that I don’t like.
“I’ve been hitting it all day, but there’s not a single picture that has succeeded in picking the line.”

It feels rather strange to succeed because I keep failing.
“Wow, was it really that hard to pick the line…?”
I wondered what to do if I drew a manga later.
In fact, I’m liking that I succeeded in drawing the lines, but I had to add more detail here, even for black and white drawings.
Even going to color, the most monstrous task of coloring remained.
“First of all, since my first goal was a color illustration, I should proceed with coloring.”
Of course, since this is the first attempt, there is a high probability of ruining it.
It wasn’t that I had to produce results right away anyway.
What I’m doing right now is an exercise in reproducing my drawing body with analog tools, and it’s rehabilitation training.
“Once with oil painting…”
In fact, at first I thought of using quick-drying watercolors.
Since oil is used for oil painting, it takes a long time to dry, which is frustrating.
However, it was not easy to draw the neat picture I wanted because the colors were mixed too much when painting over watercolor, so in the end it was best to change to the option of painting oil painting.
“Ah, well…”
However, it feels like oil painting is not painted the way I thought.
First of all, whenever I make a mistake, I don’t want to correct it more than I thought, and I thought it would be okay if I just overdid it, but that was only possible if I dried it, so it took too long.
Even though it was said to be as thin as possible, if you fix a lot of certain parts, it protrudes too much and gives a strange three-dimensional effect.
“Even though I used supplements that dry very quickly, I’ve already spent two weeks on one of these.”
While it was drying, I practiced line drawing or started a new drawing and made a fuss.
In many ways, the picture I caught for two weeks was in this state, and it came to me a lot.
Still, if it’s at the level of drying up in a day, it’s comfortable on a different level from the Yuhwarang I used to know.
To be honest, I don’t think this is just a matter of materials, but rather a matter of my skills.
If fixing it in the first place ruins the picture, you don’t have to fix it.
And honestly, I couldn’t help it because I’m still not good at making the color I want.
“It’s starting to feel a lot more multi-layered, though.”
I thought it was fortunate that the part I was most worried about turned out well.
In the case of oil painting, there is a glazing technique in which translucent paint is applied over the painting while it is completely dry.
If you use it, you can give it the feeling of drawing on a new layer and adjusting the transparency, or adding a picture with a translucent brush.
It’s a pity that there’s only one layer, so once you draw, you can’t erase it.
That’s a problem that I can eventually solve if I don’t make mistakes by building up my skills.
For now, the answer would be to just roll around and get used to oil painting.

“I thought I bought a lot of canvas, but I’m already out of it.”
In my eyes, the result that I think is good enough has not come out yet, but the canvas and some colors of paint are already starting to show the bottom.
I never thought this would come out even though I used oil painting over the canvas I threw away because the line drawing failed.
I thought that if the last one failed, I had to go buy a new canvas without finishing any of it, so I concentrated on that one and improved the perfection.

It was the first time that the color before glazing was completed so neatly.
To be honest, it’s hard to feel the big difference in quality from what I usually draw on a computer.
I’ve never been wrong, and the thickness is well with the flat feeling I wanted.
The drawing I was working on was drawing the main character of a new cartoon that I had been preparing but hadn’t started yet.
Of course, the detailed setting of the work was changed to a setting that is more suitable for this world.
Still, it was basically a fantasy work, so I didn’t compromise that much.
“Silver hair that makes good use of pure white color, and gold eyes that sparkle like jewels. It was chosen with the feeling I wanted.”
It’s a pretty girl character that has just become an adult, about the size of Rosaria, and honestly, the fact that I’ve picked out the worst points well has been conveyed well in the picture.
So, of course, I gave a lot of strength to the character, but I also paid a lot of attention to the details of the dreamy lake background.
Anyway, since this came out exactly what I had in mind, the pleasure is no joke.
The more I see my unique painting style reproduced on the canvas, the more my heart swells.
When a person completes his first work, it is said that beginner’s luck works.
Not only the movements of the glazing hands, but also the colors to be found were precisely matched, successfully adding perfection to the painting.
No, beyond that, the little by little actions that were close to mistakes were helping the details now.
“Wow, this came out really well.”
When I finally put down my brush, the picture of ‘illustrator Siu’, which was so perfect that I couldn’t believe that this was an oil painting, existed on the canvas.
