## Chapter 83 – Zombie Parade
ㅡJUEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!
The translucent ghost, struck by my Bankai, split in two. It let out an extreme cry of anguish, fluttering down like torn A4 paper before disappearing completely.
“Wol Ah Cheon Chung.”
I held the pose from the ghost-slaying for about ten seconds, then sheathed my sword quietly, bearing all the weight of life. Only then did the Holy Enchant’s duration end, the sacred light scattering like dust.
“ㅡAh…”
With that ‘slash’ just now, I ‘cut away’ my weak parts.
I felt like I wouldn’t be scared of ghosts anymore. I’m naturally a very timid person, so after watching horror movies, I couldn’t even shower properly at night, the pathetic bastard. While washing my hair, I would suffer from the delusion that the lights would suddenly go out and a ghost would appear.
Then I couldn’t sleep properly at night. When I woke up in the early morning, I was scared to open my eyes, fearing that a ghost would appear and shove its face right in front of mine for some reason.
When I witnessed a ghost in the army, I was so scared that the only solution was to hold onto my junior soldier’s hand tightly. I even held his hand tightly when returning to duty, and I still can’t forget the strange look the officer of the day gave me back then.
I have now cut away that past fear.
“Ha, haha! Hahahahaha!”
And I laughed wildly.
Now, even ghosts couldn’t stop my path of覇. My tension soared with this surging sense of accomplishment. I felt like I could do anything now.
Excited, I showered Elise with gratitude.
“Thank you! Elise! Thanks to you, I cut away my fear!”
“I don’t really know what you’re talking about, but I’m glad you seem happy.”
Ghosts were monsters, true ghosts that physical attacks didn’t work on. If novice adventurers encountered such beings deep in the forest, it was as good as dying.
They were genuine monsters who enjoyed grabbing and crushing people’s hearts with their hands that passed through everything. They were cowardly users of underhanded tactics that anyone who couldn’t use magic or divine power had to suffer helplessly against.
But I, Kim Gatta, although I received the power of Elise’s holy buff, succeeded in bisecting such a powerful ghost bastard. In other words, this was my true skill.
I raised my thumb towards Cloudie with a wide smile.
“Cloudie! I slashed a ghost!”
I had to share this glorious victory with her.
“Hmm… If you’re happy, that’s all that matters, right? Good job. My Gatta is awesome.”
“Fucking amazingly awesome.”
I needed to keep this tension going. I slung the sack I had taken off back onto my back. Now, shall we move on to the next area?
“Elise, how many more times can you use that buff skill?”
“If you don’t use other skills, you can activate it up to six more times.”
“I see.”
The dead are always suffering from desperate loneliness, so it’s common for them to stick together.
Seeing one ghost meant that there were probably other ghosts around here like cockroaches.
I had to kill them all off for the sake of social good.
An irresistible urge surged within me.
Today, I was the grim reaper proxy, Ghostbuster Kim Gatta.
“Let’s go!”
I stirred up the surroundings. As gloomy as the forest was, the wails of ghosts echoed from here and there. I tracked down the sounds and searched for places where they might be. Before long, I succeeded in finding more ghosts.
ㅡHwiuuuuuu.
ㅡHuruuuuuu.
ㅡHuuuu…
These cursed ghosts were translucent, withered-looking monsters covered in fluttering old rags. They sang of their bleak fate, forcibly opening mouths that didn’t even open properly, as if they were so sorrowful.
Just looking at them made my disgust soar. Until just now, I had felt fear, but now I just felt disgust.
Weaklings.
They were weaklings.
Then it was right to despise them.
There were a total of three of them. I felt an urge to slash them all down right away. I drew the sword I had put back in its sheath. And I let out a roar.
“United in Buddhist faith, you motherfuckers! I’ll send you all to Nirvana!”
ㅡHwiryuuuu!
Then, as if they were aggroed, all three of them flew at me. The speed was slow. At that speed, they wouldn’t be able to grab even a strand of my hair, let alone my heart.
“Hehe, aren’t you enjoying yourself too much? You look very happy.”
Cloudie, who was standing behind me, smiled softly. Right now, I was in a very good mood from having cut away my past. The corners of my mouth also went up. It was the perfect opportunity to show her my cool side.
“Elise! I need a buff!”
I asked Elise for a buff again.
From now on, I was going to activate Unlimited Blade Works and slice all those morons to pieces.
“Understood!”
ㅡBy the glorious power of God, may evil be driven out…
Elise answered energetically and recited the prayer again.
I also recited a cool line under my breath as if praying.
“Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. It is my destiny to send the undead who have reversed death back to where they should be.”
ㅡPatsutsut!
Once again, the sword burst into brilliant light. The duration of Holy Enchant wasn’t very long. But in that amount of time, I could deal with not only ghosts but even ghost grandpas.
Their weak spiritual bodies would surely be sliced like tofu in front of my blade.
I immediately activated Unlimited Blade Works.
“Unbelievable!”
Shit.
But it went to hell right from the start. Because I hadn’t recalled it in so long, I said “Unbelievable” instead of “Unlimited.” Damn it. It was already too late to correct myself.
“Blade!”
But what’s done is done.
I continued chanting and ran forward with my sword raised high.
ㅡTaktaktaktak!
“Walkthrough!”
And so, the amazing Blade Works was activated.
Just how amazing is this Blade Works, huh!
ㅡHwiyuuuut!
“Die!”
One ghost reached out its arm to me.
But because it was empty-handed, it could never overcome the distance of my swordsmanship. As I swung my sword with the force of running, it was split in half and disappeared. It was truly an amazing power.
ㅡThwack!
Two remained. Of course, even though there were two, they couldn’t catch up to my running speed with their slow speed. The difference in speed between them and me was, to exaggerate a little, like the difference between a rabbit and a turtle.
I kicked off the ground again and stabbed one of them. Thwack, the blade covered in divinity pierced through its chest. The ghost grabbed its heart and disappeared into ash.
Even so, the duration remained.
Only one left!
“You’re fucking dead now, you bastard!”
The last one, who had seen two of its comrades ascend to Nirvana in an instant, hesitated.
The terrified ghost immediately turned around and tried to run away. I, Kim Gatta, the man who made even ghosts afraid, immediately chased after it. As I said before, they could never escape from me with their pathetic speed.
ㅡHwiyuuuuuu(Fuck! Save me!)
“What the fuck are you saying when you’re already dead!”
Perhaps I was so happy that I was hallucinating, but the ghost’s wail sounded like it was begging for help. But I had no mercy.
“Iron Severing Sword!”
ㅡI swung the sword horizontally and cut the ghost in half at the waist.
It was a very clean strike.
It was supposed to disappear in two pieces.
ㅡPsh.
But.
“Huh, uh?”
My sword just passed right through the ghost.
My body froze at the unexpected situation. The same was true for the ghost. The ghost, who was clutching its head and writhing as if having a seizure, turned to look at me. It checked its body and tilted its head as if wondering.
“Hmm.”
I looked at my sword.
My sword had already become an ordinary sword, as if the buff time had ended.
ㅡHwiyuuut(Idiot!)
“TECHAAAAAAAAT!!!!!!!!!!”
The ghost’s hand blade rushed at me.
A scream like the primordial cry erupted from my mouth, and at the same time, I used Naryeotagon(Lazy Donkey Roll).
“Fuck! Save me!”
I rolled on the ground and got up, but there was nothing I could do against an opponent that my attacks didn’t work on. I immediately fled. It flew up and slowly chased after me. The fear I had forgotten for a moment soared from the depths of my heart.
My fear had not been overcome.
It had only temporarily hidden itself in the depths of my consciousness thanks to Elise’s buff. I had mistaken that for the fear disappearing.
When the desperate situation came, the fear raised its head again.
Foam was about to come out of my mouth.
“Cloudieeeㅡ!”
I needed a place to hide. I called for her, intending to hide between Cloudie’s breasts as usual. But she was nowhere to be found. Where is she! Damn it!
“…Well, ghosts can’t be helped.”
The voice came from behind.
ㅡSwoosh!
When I turned around, I saw Cloudie holding a sharp curved sword. She simply turned the ghost to dust by swinging the curved sword. My legs gave out and I sat down.
“Sipa… I almost saw blood from all the bullshit.”
A heavy breath burst out. Cloudie approached.
“I knew it from the moment you were so happy and jumping around. Let’s be a little careful?”
“I’m really, really sorry.”
I grabbed her hand and stood up. My whole body was drenched in sweat. I was too excited for someone like me. I vowed never to look at ghosts again.
“Uh, shit?”
There was one fact I had overlooked, and that was that ghosts, very surprisingly, didn’t drop any items at all. Despite all the crazy antics, I ended up losing stamina instead of gaining anything.
Thinking about it coldly, catching ghosts was just a loss. I bitterly regretted it. If I hadn’t caught them, I could have collected even more talents in that time. I did something unnecessary, damn it.
“That’s not true. At least you purified them, didn’t you? Your efforts as a saint were not in vain.”
“Is that so.”
Elise said as if comforting me when I grumbled such complaints.
Well, purifying evil spirits wandering in the heavens is a good thing. Even though life is already tight, it’s okay to do good deeds sometimes.
After that, we hunted the undead until the last minute. Just as there is a saying that if you meet a god, kill the god, and if you meet a Buddha, kill the Buddha, we killed the undead as we met them (absolutely not that kind of meaning).
Eventually, it was only when the sun was setting that we could go down the mountain with the sack full.
“Ah, it was a very satisfying day.”
“Yeah. We collected more heads than I thought today.”
“I also had a very happy day.”
Now all that was left was to take the heads in this sack to the church and exchange them for talents. This kind of grind is the charm of this festival. Normal farming and getting equipment, isn’t it literally like an RPG?
“We collected a total of 37 heads, so if we divide them by twelve, we can share them.”
Carrying all these things on my back made my back feel like it was about to break.
Two women offered to carry them for me in the middle, but as a macho man, I had no intention of handing them over even if they were stronger than me.
I immediately entered the nearest Brass Holy Angel Church. There were various placards hanging, and inside the church’s parade ground, there were exchange markets lined up like flea markets. The festival was in full swing.
I went straight to the 담당 counter and put down the sack.
“Oh, that’s a lot. Thank you for your holy service.”
“I did my best today, hehe.”
The handsome priest counted the heads in the sack and handed over the talents. The number was 37. I gave twelve to each of them and ate the remaining one.
