## Chapter 2379 – 2379. Modern Magic War

The place I teleported to with the space-movement scroll was near the 2nd Division headquarters. It was a space-movement scroll I had prepared ever since I found out that bastard was a traitor.

I was planning to kill the 2nd Division Commander first, the traitor who sold my information to Luminous. The evidence could be dealt with later.

‘I can hack his smartphone or get help from Im Hyun-ah to find some evidence.’

Even if there wasn’t any, it was right to kill the traitor who had already started his activities first.

‘If I leave him alone, he’ll do more ridiculous things. He wouldn’t have betrayed us just to manipulate public opinion.’

Frankly speaking, if I just threw a bomb into the headquarters office, the Order Bureau would be paralyzed. The administrative power was concentrated in the headquarters. If the Anti-Magic Force was the arms and legs, the headquarters was the torso and head.

I stopped walking towards the 2nd Division headquarters.

A man in his 30s wearing a white suit blocked my path. He had a sword equipped at his waist. It was Hwang Seung-min, the 1st Division Commander.

“Is it as the Director predicted? The 8th Division Commander is too reckless, which is troubling. I understand you’re angry. If I were attacked like that, I’d be angry too. But hold back. If you handle things emotionally, you’ll make things worse.”

“Did the Director know about the 2nd Division Commander’s betrayal?”

“To be precise, he suspected it. He hasn’t found any evidence yet… but it’s only a matter of time.”

“Why are you blocking me? If you know he’s a traitor, you should go kill him.”

“The Order Bureau isn’t an evil organization. It’s a government organization. We need procedures. And the 2nd Division Commander, Kim Mu-hyung, is probably expecting you to act like this. Are you going to let him manipulate you?”

“I’ll know after I cut off his head. Whether I was being manipulated by him or not.”

“Calm down. Are you planning to fight me?”

“If you keep blocking me, I’ll have to fight.”

“You alone against all of us?”

Hwang Seung-min laughed. Familiar faces gathered from all directions.

Yoo Min-ha, the 3rd Division Commander, with the appearance of an 8-year-old and brown twin-tail hair. She clenched her fist.

“I lost back then… but it’ll be different this time. I’m going to use Ars Magna.”

From behind, a huge man in uniform approached. His uniform looked like it was about to burst from his muscles. It was Park Son, the 4th Division Commander.

“Brother. Calm down. The Director is a man I acknowledge. Trust him. If you can’t trust him, trust me!”

Ignoring Park Son’s nonsense, I looked to my left. A woman who looked like her uniform was about to burst in a different way was approaching. Voluptuous breasts and hips, and a slender waist. And a mini-skirt and black pantyhose that looked difficult to even move in. She held a designer pouch in her right hand.

Her face was much more mature than Yoo Min-ha’s. Of course, this one, exuding the charm of an adult, was more my type.

“Oh my. Your gaze is intense. Nice to meet you. I’m Jo Yoon-ha, the 7th Division Commander.”

Jo Yoon-ha, the 7th Division Commander. I knew the name. I thought the 7th Division was on a business trip to Jeju Island… but it seems they’ve returned.

“I’m Sung Yu-jin. I’ve heard your name. How about we go to a quiet café and have some tea?”

“Are you hitting on me? Haha. If you were a cute girl, I might have said yes. But right now, it’s more important to deliver the Director’s orders. 8th Division Commander Sung Yu-jin. You’ve just been confirmed for an overseas business trip. Go to Japan and deal with the Harriers.”

“Japan? What are you talking about?”

“I told you, it’s the Director’s orders. Check your smartphone. You should have received a message.”

I checked my messages.

It was true. A mission order had been delivered. Just about a minute ago. The order was issued as soon as they heard I had moved.

“…How should I interpret this?”

“It’s rare, but not surprising to get a business trip order. I was stuck in Jeju Island for a year, you know?”

I clicked my tongue and raised my magic power. I was planning to kill the 2nd Division Commander Kim Mu-hyung and then go to Japan. That was the plan I was about to execute.

The commanders, including me, who were surrounding me, simultaneously raised their magic power.

Hwang Seung-min had identical clones appearing on both sides of him, and Yoo Min-ha deployed a time distortion field. Park Son behind me flexed his muscles and clenched his fists.

Jo Yoon-ha, the 7th Division Commander, took out three small monster dolls from the pouch she was holding and threw them on the ground. The dolls then grew larger as they absorbed magic power, turning into real monsters.

Magic that turns dolls into monsters. I didn’t know how strong the monsters were… but just from the energy I could feel, they were stronger than ordinary members.

‘Fighting four commanders at the same time… Regardless of the outcome, they’re not a force I can take lightly.’

With Luminous’s last struggle right in front of me, there was no need to damage my forces by fighting them. Even if the 6th Division had excellent recovery magic, it couldn’t instantly recover from aftereffects, unlike complete recovery.

Considering everything, fighting here was more detrimental than beneficial.

I lowered the magic power I had raised.

“You wouldn’t send me to Japan without a reason. I’ll trust you for now.”

In my head, I was wondering how to get with Jo Yoon-ha. Unfortunately, due to the penalty, I had almost no information about Jo Yoon-ha, the 7th Division Commander.

Hwang Seung-min sighed and released his magic. His clones disappeared.

“Phew. I’m glad we didn’t have a pointless battle here. Go to Japan and rest. The Director probably needs time. Even if he wants to summon you, he needs an excuse to refuse the summons since you’re on a mission in Japan.”

“I’ll play along for now.”

I turned my body and retreated.

It didn’t matter if I was in Japan. I had a space-movement scroll. I could return to Korea in an instant when needed.

• • •

Somewhere in the mountainous region of Japan.

I was moving with the Japanese Metropolitan Police Department officers. It seemed that Japan also had a national organization similar to Korea’s Anti-Magic Force, but they were short on manpower to the point of asking Korea for help.

I checked the situation in Korea on my smartphone. Even after three days, Korea was still noisy about the issue of the 8th Anti-Magic Force Commander’s civilian massacre.

I, the person at the center of it, was one step removed, on an important mission in Japan.

‘I thought they would use the government’s power to completely shut down the media… but they’re not doing that.’

Well, I understand. If the media suddenly went silent here, it would reveal government pressure, which would cause more problems.

Instead of controlling the media, Park Hyun-woong chose a different method. Changing the problematic civilian massacre into a Harrier massacre.

It was a kind of wordplay… but it worked. Some of the media that had been indiscriminately criticizing me started to praise me. Because people who supported me had appeared.

「The actions of the 8th Division Commander Sung Yu-jin! There were no civilians among those he killed! Sung Yu-jin hates Harriers!」

For the general public, magic criminals, Harriers, were a source of fear.

If a Harrier decided to use magic, it was difficult for ordinary people to respond. Especially in Korea, they were even more helpless against Harriers because of the gun control laws.

In the midst of all this, a person appeared who was ruthlessly killing Harriers.

A man who mercilessly killed those who were more dangerous than armed robbers. He even went to prisons to kill criminals.

Some people cheered for his destructive actions.

Just by looking at the best comments on the articles, you could roughly see how public opinion was turning.

「9999(BEST) : My younger sibling died because of those damn Harrier terrorists. I’m not the only victim. Nearly 30 people died in their terror. It was an incident two years ago, so those who know will know. The guy who killed 30 people was sentenced to death. That’s it. Because the death penalty isn’t carried out in Korea. That guy who killed 30 people is living off the taxes we pay. I was so desperate about that fact… I resented this country, this world. But Sung Yu-jin killed that guy, and I was finally able to put the past behind me. Thank you, Sung Yu-jin. You are my hero.」

「KingRuleManipulation(BEST) : Looking at it, the rate of magic crime has been gradually decreasing since the 8th Division Commander started his activities.」

「Tomb(BEST) : He killed Harriers, not civilians. And it was in the process of suppressing Harriers. In other words, self-defense. I don’t know why the media is making such a fuss.」

In reality, I hadn’t committed any civilian massacres in this world.

‘Those guys in the abandoned building… they attacked me first.’

Even if they were brainwashed, they were the ones who tried to kill me. Besides, those guys there weren’t exactly civilians. Most of them were people who had awakened to magic and ran away. Even if they weren’t wanted, they could be considered Harriers.

‘It’s a tactic to divide public opinion.’

The public, which should have been united, was now divided into two, fighting each other. One side was criticizing me for the massacre, and the other side was defending me, saying that the people who died deserved it.

The key was that there was no legal problem. All the killings I committed were during the execution of my duties, and the opponents were magic criminals.

‘Was it the mob? I did kill a few civilians I didn’t like… but they’re fish food in the Pacific Ocean, so there’s no way they’ll be discovered.’

Even if I couldn’t take them to another world due to the penalty, I could still use the space-movement scroll.

“Um, Mr. Sung Yu-jin. We’ve arrived. The Harrier is hiding in that wooden house over there. You need to be careful. He’s killed 15 people. Five of them were members of the Magic Suppression Force.”

Listening to the police officer, I put my smartphone in my pocket and got out of the car.

Kwa kwa kwa kwa kwa!

A huge snake appeared, collapsing the wooden house. The snake with a human face was rampaging with its large body.

“It’s his magic going berserk!”

“Shoot! No, run away!”

The Japanese police officers were shocked and fired their pistols. But the bullets didn’t even penetrate, they just bounced off.

I released my magic power. The guy who was about to devour the police turned his head and looked at me. Then, he opened his mouth wide enough to swallow a car in one bite and rushed at me.

“Mr. Sung, Mr. Sung Yu-jin! Please dodge!”

Ignoring the police officer’s words, I took out a fist-sized piece of tungsten from my pocket and threw it into the air.

Pajijik.

Electricity sparked from the center of the tungsten, fixing it in the air. I laid an invisible electromagnetic rail centered on the tungsten.

The monster snake was already within 10 meters. I forcefully struck the tungsten with my clenched fist.

Lightning Heaven Style (雷天流) Electromagnetic Cannon (電磁砲).

The tungsten pierced through the monster’s 100-meter-long body at six times the speed of sound and shot up into the sky. The projectile, which flew hundreds of kilometers, disappeared into the air. All that remained on the ground were the marks left by the projectile and the monster’s torn corpse.

‘It consumes more magic power than I thought. The concentration required to maintain the rail is also considerable. As of now, it’s not impossible to use it in rapid succession, but it would be difficult.’
