Chapter 7 – Adaptation
#007.
“Miss Gaon! Where did you learn spearmanship?”
“… I learned from a master who lived in seclusion in the mountains.”
A person who lived in seclusion in Mt. Jiri.
It’s not like this, of course it’s a lie.
Gaon also doesn’t know where he learns spearmanship.
It was just saying anything.
It was easier to respond to something that had no sense of reality than making up a half-baked lie.
Whether you’re really fooled, or you think you’re just covering it up because you don’t want to talk about it. Either way.
“Uh, uh… That’s right! You are a special person. Are you a natural person?”
As expected, Chorin was taken aback by the unexpected answer.
At the same time, she also mentions that she is a natural person.
“You really like natural people.”
“Ahaha… Were you a bit bored? Sorry.”
“No. Well, that’s not necessarily wrong. You could call it a natural person.”
“How amazing…”
It’s strange, but when you look at the plump eyes, you don’t believe it very much. Still, Gaon was delighted that she did not bother to ask more questions. She was eaten as intended.
I’ve been walking in the woods for an hour already.
Chorin was different from yesterday, but she was wearing shoes, so she felt physically more relaxed. Of course, Gaon was much better than that.
‘It should go to the southeast.’
Based on her past life memories, Gaon specified her current location. Judging from the fact that she met the goblins, this place must have moved slightly to the west.
Since the neutral zone was long in the center, it would have been possible to reach Suwon by moving a little to the southeast.
The problem is that it is the domain of orcs. If you meet now, there is a high possibility that you will struggle quite a bit.
Even if Gaon himself was fine, Chorin could never handle it.
When I saw Chorin, I could see her eagerly looking around her. Her lips, which had been moist as if she was slowly suffering from thirst, were dry.
“… Where is the water?”
“Well. Let’s move on for now.”
There was no conversation after that.
I didn’t bother talking to him to minimize the energy consumption.
After about 30 minutes, when Chorin’s breathing became rough, Gaon stopped.
“Stop.”
“… What’s going on?”
Chorin whispered softly at the sight of Gaon, hiding in the bushes, with only her face slightly sticking out.
Tension soars at the unusual appearance.
“There are goblins ahead.”
“Oh… Then run away quickly.”
Now, the two of them have not taken food and water for a day. Of course, my stamina is much lower than usual. If you fight monsters at this time, you can see a big waste.
This was Chorin’s judgment.
However, Gaon was prepared to attack.
There are three goblins in front. Two were holding daggers, and one was carrying a bow.
It was a scouting party.
This is a place that can be said to be the borderline with the Orcs. Of course, they also come and go here from time to time and prepare for any possible attack.
It was different from the guys who attacked them in the first place, starting with their armed status. Among them, the goblin archer had a canteen strapped to his waist.
Gaon fixed his spear once and pointed his finger at the canteen.
“Lee Cho-rin. One of the goblins seems to have some water.”
“I, really?”
“Yes. It is true.”
At the word water, Chorin hurriedly poked her head out to the side of Gaon to check the water bottle.
He swallows his saliva and stares at Gaon.
“Uh, what should I do?”
“Of course I have to kill you. Even if we avoid it here, we will meet again someday.”
“Yes…”
Chorin clutched her dagger with both hands and bowed her head. They are shaken by the fact that they have to cut off the life of one creature, even if it is a monster.
But if you don’t kill, you die.
No, rather, you will meet a miserable end to the point where you think it’s better to die.
Chorin raised her head as if she had made a decision after much thought. Her body was rigid with tension, but her eyes were determined.
“Do.”
“Good choice. Then wait here. If I kill an archer with a surprise attack, they will rush at me.”
“Yes!”
As soon as he heard her spirited reply, Gaon moved.
Hiding her body in her bush, she approached slowly, like her ghost, leaving only the slightest noise.
The physical abilities of the goblins themselves were not that great.
Of course, I didn’t care too much about the little noise. Of course, this was also a problem of negligence due to long-term reconnaissance.
She asks Chorin to help her as soon as she takes down her archers, but in fact, if there are about three of them, Gaon alone can finish them off in an instant.
I killed 5 of them in the blink of an eye yesterday, so there’s no way I’ll struggle this much.
However, Gaon just wanted to reassure Chorin of her determination.
Since you came to this world, you must throw away the way of thinking you had on Earth. You have to face up to the fact that you have come to the world of the jungle and make changes so that you can survive here.
Gaon, who approached slowly but steadily without stopping, was able to reach the goblins within a short time.
Hiding herself in the bush, she waited on the path she would pass in advance, and the moment the archer just passed by,
“Suck!”
Splashing out of her brush, she took that momentum and threw her spear out.
Pooh!
The spear blade pierces the heart, leaving a hole, and is retrieved in an instant. As he passed the collapsing goblin archer, he struck one of the goblins in the knee as he was just turning around in panic.
Oops!
In that one blow, his cartilage was shattered.
I turned my attention away from the guy who stumbled and collapsed and turned my attention to the rest of the guy who was just rushing at me.
I easily dodged the dagger that came my way, and struck his uvula with the second joint of my middle finger erect, as if hitting a honey chestnut.
“Keuk!”
His uvula was ruptured.
His eyes went wide open and his hands poked at the defenseless cleft around his neck.
The spear that spun from his hand was fired again, suffocating him.
“After!”
It took less than 3 seconds to get here.
Gaon let out a strong breath and swung his spear at the goblin, who sat down with his knee shattered.
It wasn’t my intention to stop breathing.
There was a separate person who would do it.
I just smashed my limbs so that I couldn’t resist hastily.
“Kieeaek!!”
It squeaked and screamed whenever a limb broke in one place. Despite the unpleasant sound of scraping metal, Gaon did not pay attention and broke all his limbs and called for Chorin, who had just stopped trying to jump out of the bush.
“Lee Cho-rin. Hurry.”
“Ah! Four!”
Even as she answered, Chorin’s eyes were on the goblins. She glanced first at the screamer, then at the cold, bleeding ones.
The paleness of the complexion is a sign of upset stomach. It was Chorin who was approaching, trying hard to keep his mouth shut and avoid throwing up.
“Oh, it’s over soon.”
“Yes. They’re not that strong. Archers are just a bit dangerous. As long as you don’t get attacked, that’s fine.”
“Come to think of it, Mr. Gaon faced 5 of them yesterday, right? I am no help again.”
On her face of her chorin, her relief and a sense of embarrassment coexisted.
The idea that she didn’t have her blood on her own hands and the idea that only Gaon took her burden in the end is causing a conflict.
But that was nothing more than looking at Gaon too kindly.
From the beginning, Gaon had no intention of making Chorin fight. It’s because I don’t know if it’s later, but I have to adapt first.
What kind of adaptation is that…
“Lee Cho-rin. Kill this guy.”
It was an adaptation to slaughter.
Chorin raised her eyes wide at what Gaon said, pointing her spear at the limb-destroying goblin who was still screaming.
The pupil, shaking as if it had been an earthquake, soon contained the goblin and flinched once more.
Glancing at the daggers in her hands, he gulped down her saliva before turning his gaze back to Gaon.
To that gaze, Gaon responded with a more determined look. Chorin couldn’t resist the will to leave strong pressure that he could never give up on this.
Standing over the goblin, holding the dagger in his trembling hands, he took a deep breath and bent his knees, staring straight into the screaming face.
Even in the midst of that, he reached out to Chorin, who came closer, but Gaon blocked him with a spear on his back.
Chorin, who knelt beside the completely subdued guy, raised his hands high into the sky and powerfully lowered them.
Hooked!
“Keeeee!!”
The dagger pierced the goblin’s chest.
The guy struggled to get out of it, but it wasn’t enough to push him, no matter how hard he was.
Rather, the dagger swayed back and forth and the wound opened wider, and blood trickled down through the gap.
As if the dagger had ripped through his heart as well as his lungs, the blood flowed backwards from the corner of his struggling mouth, and he slowly stopped moving.
As the light escaped from his eyes, Chorin faced the sight of a life facing its end with both eyes open.
It seemed as if he would not turn away from his sins.
A little more time passed, and when the goblin completely ceased to move, Chorin staggered to his feet.
His shoulders shook greatly.
His hand trembled, and soon the strength was lost, and the dagger he was holding rolled on the dirt floor.
Chorin’s breathing grew rougher as he stared at the blood on his hands.
“Ha… Ha! Whoa… !”
Her cycle of inhalation and exhalation continues to shorten. It was a precursor to shortness of breath.
Gaon immediately approached and grabbed Chorin by the shoulders and shouted.
“Lee Cho-rin! Wake up!”
It was only then that Chorin came to his senses when he shook her shoulders and heard a loud cry ringing in her ears. She took a deep breath and exhaled slowly, raising her head to look at Gaon.
“Ahhh… Go, Mr. Gaon…”
“Calm down. There is nothing wrong with Lee Cho-rin. That’s what I said to kill. Do you understand?”
“…”
Chorin’s eyes gradually returned to their original size. The pupils that had been wide open contracted, and she sparkled as if she had regained her sanity! Threw out the light
Gaon, who was relieved to see her slowly blinking her eyes and slowly regaining her composure, sighed and removed his hand from his shoulder.
After taking a few steps back and watching her, Chorin closed and opened her eyes, took a deep breath, and lifted her head.
“Thank you. Gaon Mr. Thanks to you, I calmed down.”
“I’m glad. Rest. I’ll go look for them.”
“… Then please. Only this time… I will rest. Next time I will help too.”
“Of course.”
Gaon watched Chorin sit down with her back leaning against a fallen tree before moving her body to grab her canteen.
