## Chapter 198 – Plotting Rebellion (2)
***
“What do you think? These amazing children… You’ll be using them for a grand purpose.”
The figures in the video were far from ordinary.
Their grotesquely enlarged skeletons and twisted muscles formed massive physiques, and the wounds from explosions or slashes on their bodies healed almost instantly, demonstrating monstrous regenerative abilities.
“Currently, our company possesses about a thousand of these children. They will be of great help to you, Director, in becoming the leader of the new alliance.”
Kaiser subtly moved closer to the Executive Director, whispering softly into his ear.
The executives couldn’t say a word about her provocative behavior, merely swallowing hard and awaiting the Executive Director’s reaction.
“I don’t believe you would make such an offer without expecting something in return… I would appreciate it if you could honestly state what you want in exchange for your help.”
The Executive Director remained calm, his expression unchanged, as he asked what she wanted, assuming she wouldn’t help him for nothing.
In his opinion, humans were more driven by greed and desire than one might think.
She had approached him, introducing herself as the president of some company, and those who made a living by dealing with others wouldn’t propose a one-sided deal.
“Ah ha ha… You’re a very rational and reasonable person. Truly befitting of someone who will become the leader of the alliance.”
At the Executive Director’s inquiry about her motives, Kaiser’s crimson eyes smiled slightly.
“What I want… is to create a powerful being who will rule the world. To create a ruler with power and authority that no one can dare to surpass.
Of course, it would be ideal if I could ascend to that position myself… but if there is someone with better qualifications than me, I would gladly place them in that role.”
The Executive Director began to contemplate.
Could he really trust that Kaiser was someone who would follow his will? Was it safe to trust the words of an entity whose origins were unknown?
Could she really make him the ruler with power and authority she spoke of?
He rested his chin on his hand, biting his lip as he pondered, before breaking the silence and sharing his thoughts.
“Thank you for the generous offer… but unfortunately, I find it difficult to accept your proposal.”
The Executive Director stated that he would reject Kaiser’s offer.
“Huh…? Are you really refusing?”
Kaiser seemed to have expected the Executive Director to accept the offer, tilting her head with a slightly puzzled expression.
“What we are planning is to correct the flawed alliance. We intend to use the alliance’s own power to achieve that.
If we receive help from the outside, it can never be said to be just, and, though it may sound unpleasant… it is difficult to trust someone we’ve just met, wouldn’t you agree?”
His reasons for refusing were twofold.
Using external forces to fix the alliance was not justifiable, and he couldn’t easily trust someone he had just met when undertaking such a significant task.
“Th-That’s right! I don’t know what you do… but it’s hard to believe you.”
“We appreciate the sentiment… but wouldn’t it be better to build a stronger relationship of trust first?”
The other executives chimed in only after the Executive Director had voiced his opinion.
“Tsk…”
Kaiser directed a look of disgust and contempt towards the executives, clicking her tongue and biting her lip.
‘If the people below him are only this capable… does that mean he only has this much ambition?’
Kaiser had assumed that the Executive Director’s desire to become the leader of the alliance was so strong that he would readily accept such an offer.
However, there was something Kaiser had overlooked.
Even though he had engaged in all sorts of misdeeds to win internal power struggles and seize authority, he still considered himself to be acting righteously.
Of course, judging by his past actions and behavior, he didn’t seem to be acting righteously at all.
However, he was undeniably a founding member of the group that led the ‘Heroes,’ and he considered upholding justice to be as important as growing and protecting his power.
The problem was that his sense of justice had become twisted over time as he tasted the fruits of power.
“I don’t know what kind of person you are… but I appreciate you making such a generous offer. I would like to have a formal meeting to establish cooperation after I become the leader of the alliance.”
The Executive Director stood up, politely offering Kaiser a handshake, suggesting that they formally discuss the matter after he became the leader.
Kaiser wordlessly accepted his handshake, and the Executive Director called out to an employee in the conference room.
“The discussion is over… escort the president so she can return comfortably.”
“Yes!”
The employee bowed respectfully and tried to lead Kaiser out of the conference room. However, Kaiser held onto the Executive Director’s hand tightly, refusing to let go.
“Is there… anything else you would like to discuss?”
Kaiser’s actions clearly indicated dissatisfaction.
The Executive Director assumed she was angry because he had rejected her offer, subtly probing to see if she had any other proposals.
However, Kaiser didn’t seem to hear the Executive Director’s words, and she gripped his hand even tighter, as if she were about to crush it.
“Ugh… Wh-What’s wrong…!? Kkeuaaaak…!!”
Suddenly, the Executive Director’s painful scream and the sound of bones breaking echoed throughout the conference room.
“Wh-What’s going on! Executive Director!”
“Director!!”
The executives, startled by the Executive Director’s scream, rushed to his side, but Kaiser had already left his hand in a mangled state.
‘His hand is shattered…! Just what… is she…!’
The power she exuded felt beyond human capabilities.
The Executive Director writhed in pain from his broken hand and finger bones, but he also grew increasingly curious about what kind of entity Kaiser was.
“Don’t move! Hands up!”
The agents and guards inside the conference room surrounded Kaiser, pointing their guns at her and demanding her surrender.
“Ha… It would have been nice if you had listened quietly.”
She raised her arms as the agents demanded, but her actions were far from a peaceful surrender.
– Fwooshㅡ
“Wh-What?!”
Dozens of ominous red threads shot out from the tips of her raised fingers, piercing the heads of the executives in the conference room.
“Keheok… Eueo-eoeoeok…?!”
The threads that pierced the executives’ heads didn’t leave any visible wounds, but they caused them considerable pain, enough to elicit sharp groans.
“What… are you doing… Kkeuaaaaaaaaak!!!”
The Executive Director was also attacked by the threads. He couldn’t stop screaming from the pain that simultaneously assaulted his hand and head.
“M-My body won’t move… Euaaaaak!!”
“Resisting is futile.”
Some of the executives, former Heroes with special abilities, tried to fight back, but they couldn’t even move their fingers as they wished, let alone use their abilities.
“Honestly… nothing but filthy and sordid thoughts.”
Kaiser read the thoughts inside the executives’ heads through the threads extending from her fingertips, and she frowned at their vile greed, which was solely focused on satisfying their own desires.
She didn’t want beings with petty and sordid desires.
She wanted someone who could correct the world of ignorant humans consumed by emotions and desires, and lead that world with great power and authority.
However, she couldn’t sense any such will from the threads connected to the executives.
“If we had resolved this through conversation, this wouldn’t have been necessary… In the end, it seems I had to step in myself.”
The red threads that had pierced the executives’ heads scattered like dust and disappeared a moment later, and everyone in the conference room lost consciousness and collapsed.
“Executive Director? Have you reconsidered accepting my offer now?”
Kaiser nudged the back of the fallen Executive Director’s head with her boot, telling him to get up despite his writhing in pain.
“Ugh… Eueo-eo….”
Then, the Executive Director, his pained expression completely gone, slowly rose to his feet and looked at her as she commanded.
“I… accept… the offer….”
His eyes were hollow, as if his soul and emotions had been stolen by something.
The Executive Director bowed his head to Kaiser and accepted the offer he had previously rejected, but it was clear that he hadn’t changed his mind on his own.
“Now that you’ve accepted the offer… all that’s left is to act.”
