My Characters Are Heroes From Another World 266

Chapter 266 – Completion Review

Hello.

Thank you to the readers who read until the end!

I thought that readers who followed this short novel until the end would drop out halfway through and there would be very few left, but I can’t tell you how grateful I am that more people than I expected read it.

At the time of writing this review, about 60 to 70 people have followed. Thank you!

I took quite a few breaks in between, but ‘let’s never do this all year round!’ I think I have somehow managed to run until now with that promise.

When I first wrote this novel, it was a contest for the best in the universe that started at Nobelpia in October 2021, and if you look at the period until completion, it is a little less than a year.

I think everyone has similar reasons for writing a novel. When I looked at novels written by other writers, I thought, ‘Wouldn’t this kind of story be better? ‘Does this material look interesting?’ I think you should write it with one thought in mind. I started that way too.

Actually, I have rented a lot of novels from rental stores since I was young, and while I was reading them, I thought about writing one myself, but I never attempted it.

Later, as I got older, I gradually forgot about the novel, but somehow I came across Novelpia and it was fun to read the novel again. I also liked the trends that had changed from the past, and I read them whenever I had time. Then, the idea of wanting to write a novel began to arise again.

However, due to lack of will, most people quit after just writing a little bit of the first episode. I learned about Novelpia around January 21, so I tried a little bit in October, when I started serializing, but I remember that I quit before I could write even 300 characters properly.

Then, what became the opportunity was the Universe’s Strongest Contest. When I saw the news that there was a contest, I started with the thought, “Okay, if I really put my mind to it and try it and don’t get any interest, I’ll just consider it an experience.” Moreover, in the past, after writing in the exercise book and having some spare time, I tried to upload the story once it was completed, but since I finished it without being able to complete it, I ended up writing only the first episode and uploading it immediately.

That was my thought once I gave it a try. At that time, I had no idea about stockpiling.

At that time, the main thing that came to mind was that I had created a funny name for the character in the game. I thought about how funny it would be if the main character met that character in real life, and that’s what I’ve been writing about ever since.

There was really only one thing, Pingchaeng Chulong saw this and ran.

I didn’t know it at the time, but now I have a lot of regrets. Starting a novel with just that one material, without even creating a proper setting, without even a single reserve…

A guy writing his first novel. Plus, live serials every day… I don’t think it was easy.

There is a meme like that, right? In the movie Interstellar, there’s a meme that goes around where the main character yells at his past self to not break up with his daughter, right?

I am currently in that position. If I could convey this to my past self, it would be to not start off that way. Please don’t start by just looking at the material, but think a little more about the settings and build up some reserves before starting.

The number of game characters was set to 8 to match the number of characters I was raising at the time in ‘that game’ I was playing. At first, I tried to express a game that only existed in the novel and had nothing to do with ‘that game’, but everyone who recognized it recognized it. It is true that the motif was taken from it.

However, now that I think about it, I think that the number of characters was increased too much… Or at least I should have written a story to give each character a narrative, but the further I go, the more I regret that it is lacking in that aspect.

Oh, the jobs are not the same. I thought it would be too harsh to have the same job.

As I was thinking about who the enemy would be in the novel that started like that, I thought that the tension would be lost if I went with the default setting of game characters being much stronger than the beings in this world, so I came up with the existence of ‘Demon’.

Even if the game character is strong, it is ultimately a being in the game, and it is probable that monsters from the same game will have similar strength, and if a raid boss of the same level called Modeus appears in the future, it may create a crisis if Freyja, who was a buffer, is not present. I thought about it, and the rule for RPG games is to reach max level, right?

I thought it would be the biggest crisis if the main character reaches max level while in another world and a high-level raid boss like Chaos Alcatraz appears.

This is what I thought when the episode where the existence of Demon was mentioned came out, and I thought I would reach it someday as I wrote…

In fact, I didn’t even expect to write until Chapter 264, which is now complete. I have to use a lot to get to 150 episodes? I thought it would be about the same. However, the number of episodes increased due to the number of pre-installed characters and the continuing story, and it seems to have reached the present.

If I write up to episode 150, I’ll finish it… Huh? Will there be 200 episodes? What? I think it will be over 250 episodes?

It seems that things changed in this order.

I decided on a few moments I wanted to write about and started serializing them with stories that fit them, but I never thought it would go this far.

In fact, if I had added more settings for each character or a story to show the narrative, I think there would have been a lot more content, and I wasn’t confident that I could enjoy the story to that extent, so I cut everything that needed to be cut as much as possible.

Still, I didn’t know it would come this far.

There were also quite a few settings that would have been nice to include in the middle, and there were also settings that were completely forgotten. For example, there might be a scene where the characters summoned by the protagonist are summoned from another country and brainwashed to fight against the protagonist.

However, what I considered important while writing this novel was that the game characters should never betray the main character or join a hostile force, so I took away the story like that.

Another thing is that before the finale, I tried to write a story about someone being killed by a boss attack and being revived through the game’s resurrection skill in such a dramatic situation… But it didn’t look that good due to my poor writing skills, so I scrapped it.

What was forgotten was that the settings for the equipment used by each character were mentioned at first, but were gradually forgotten over time.

I tried to serialize it with the settings up to this point, but it just wasn’t possible. I think that’s why I boldly removed it. So, there was a story about strengthening the equipment and a story where the main character tried to use the game equipment, but it gradually lost its importance…

The most important thing is that it is a story that readers can enjoy reading.

This is why it seems necessary to write a novel with a clear setting.

And I think the biggest feature and flower of my novel is probably ‘myeongmyeong’.

Everyone’s excitement is so great that I can watch it again… It’s amazing, haha!

Of course, we decided to do this live as well. When writing a novel, I started by deciding on the first story, Ellie’s Pingchaengchulong.

I thought that readers would like it if I did this, and I was very happy to see that most people liked Shinmyeong.

I think most of the comments were about God’s name. The story content is good, but it seems like there were more people who liked the comedy elements.

Since this is my first novel, it is really, really lacking.

I started from scratch without even looking at the writing guide or web novel videos, and studied little by little to change things along the way, so I lacked a lot of flow at first.

I’m really, really grateful to those who have followed this novel this far.

The main story ends here… I may or may not write a side story about them spending the night together…

If I were to write it, I think I would write it with each of the seven male characters, excluding Rachel.

What I felt while writing the novel was that it was very difficult for me to write a 19+ scene. Should I say that it doesn’t work as well as I thought…

I think the importance of the 19-year-old scene is probably lame, but I think this part was very lacking for me. I think you should write this part after practicing more and improving your skills.

I think we should finish this soon.

I don’t know how readers will remember my novel, but I think it would be great if they remembered it as a ‘fun novel.’

Of course, that’s a very, very high praise, and I think the best way to say it is, ‘It was a novel worth reading.’ This kind of evaluation is just a truly satisfactory evaluation for me.

Once again, I would like to thank all the readers who came this far in this short novel, and I will leave here.

Thank you!
