Chapter 2371 – 2371. Modern Magic War
I was sitting at my desk in the office, downloading and playing mobile games from this world.
The door burst open, and a woman appeared. No, she was too young to be called a woman. Even being generous, she looked about eight years old. Moreover, her hairstyle was brown twin tails. She was wearing a suit, but it didn’t suit her young appearance.
However, the magical power emanating from her was not something to be ignored. At least in terms of total magical power, she was similar to or even stronger than me.
“Are you the one who turned my brother into a cripple?!”
Yoo Minha.
The commander of the 3rd Division. The older sister of the deputy commander, Yoo Sseokchang. I know from the original work that her strength has nothing to do with her appearance. She is stronger than Yoo Sseokchang, to the point where I doubt if they even share the same genes.
“Doesn’t the 3rd Division have anything to do? They keep coming here to pick fights and cause trouble.”
“It seems like the rumors about the new commander of the 8th Division being a crazy bastard are true. Hey, come outside. Let’s have a go in the training grounds.”
“Weren’t you here to avenge your brother?”
“Ah. I’ll do that too. It’s not like you killed Sseokchang, so I’ll only half-kill you!”
Those were the words of the most belligerent woman in the Order of the Nation.
She wasn’t my type, so I wasn’t particularly interested in her. She wasn’t weak either, so fighting her now would be troublesome in many ways.
“It’s almost lunchtime. Let’s eat first and then fight. 2 PM. Wait for me at the 3rd Division training grounds. I’ll come to you.”
“Oh. I like your confident attitude. I’ll personally test if you’re a mage worthy of being a commander. See you in three hours.”
She stormed out.
She was as dumb as she was in the original work.

2 PM.
Yoo Minha stood with her arms crossed at the 3rd Magic Division headquarters training grounds, waiting for Sung Yoojin, the commander of the 8th Division. The training grounds were filled with mages who had come to watch the duel. They had come to see the skills of Sung Yoojin, who was still unknown.
Yoo Minha was pleased with them. It was more fun to fight with an audience.
‘Sseokchang was defeated, but… he didn’t die. So what if his limbs were torn off and he suffered full-body burns? The 6th Division healed him, so it’s fine.’
It wasn’t like he died. He didn’t die. She had experienced having her limbs torn off a few times herself. The full-body burns were a bit severe, though.
‘Sseokchang has been acting up too much lately, so this is a good opportunity to teach him a lesson. Of course, as his sister, I have to get revenge.’
Yoo Sseokchang was definitely skilled, regardless of his personality. His position as deputy commander was not just because he was her brother.
He claimed he was ambushed while off guard, but it was his skill that allowed him to be subdued so quickly.
‘Fire, wind, water. A sorcerer who controls three elements. It’s amazing that he controls three elements. When I saw him earlier, his magical power was similar to mine… I’m looking forward to his combat skills even more.’
Mages have slightly different names depending on their magic.
Sorcerer, Warlock, Wizard.
Sorcerers are mages who handle the purest elemental magic.
Warlocks are mages who handle familiars.
Wizards are mages who handle other types of magic.
Sorcerers and Warlocks were rare in themselves. Most mages were Wizards.
Sorcerers are strong because they are rare. Elemental magic is no different from controlling nature.
‘Sung Yoojin will probably try to overwhelm me with the firepower of his elemental magic. Even if the Director acknowledged his talent, he hasn’t fully blossomed yet. He’ll lack combat experience. If he had combat experience… there’s no way a sorcerer of that caliber wouldn’t have made a name for himself by now. I’ll engage in close combat as soon as the duel starts. The training ground is limited, so he won’t be able to run away.’
She continued her combat simulation in her head when she suddenly realized that more than five minutes had passed.
“Why isn’t that bastard here? Is he scared? Someone go get the commander of the 8th Division!!”
At her shout, a few members of the 3rd Division left the training grounds. And in less than three minutes, they returned with news.
“Commander! The commander of the 8th Division wasn’t at headquarters! He left headquarters an hour ago!”
It was a no-show.
Her face immediately contorted.
“Where did that bastard go?”
“We only know that he went out on a mission.”
“I’m asking where he went.”
“We don’t know. The commander of the 8th Division has independent operational authority… we can’t know the details. You’d have to ask the Director… but…”
The Director of the National Order of the Nation was not someone that a mere soldier could meet just because they wanted to. He was a minister-level official and was often called to the President. His office was probably empty right now.
“Damn it!”
Yoo Minha was furious, but there was nothing she could do.

The Taeul Prison, hidden in the mountains of Gangwon Province.
This prison, protected by a special magic barrier, only housed magical criminals. Most of the inmates had their grimoires destroyed and could not use magic, but they still possessed magical power, giving them bodies beyond human capabilities, and they could also become the owners of unclaimed grimoires.
For the past 30 years, the Taeul Prison had been hidden and never revealed. But that was until now.
A group of people appeared near the Taeul Prison, breaking through the barrier. Among them, a man and a woman stood out.
The man, Baek Joo-hyuk, with a muscular body and a buzz cut, frowned and complained.
“To think that we have to advance the prison raid plan because of that brat. No matter how much he’s been designated as a future executive, is he really worth modifying the plan for?”
The beautiful woman with orange hair down to her waist, Im Hyun-ah, crossed her arms. Her already ample chest swelled even more.
“Funny. Are you jealous because he’s a fellow executive candidate?”
“No, Ms. Hyun-ah. I just don’t understand why a guy who was already defeated and captured is so important. Honestly, I’m stronger than him.”
“Ji Hyun-soo has more potential. The magic to transform into a demon has more possibilities than you think. And the organization is very curious about the skills of the new commander of the 8th Division. So much so that they want to ask the person who fought him.”
“Haa. I’m just uneasy… but I guess we can’t postpone the operation, can we?”
He shook his head, looking at the 20 mages who were standing behind him.
“You know it well. Kill the guards and release the inmates. You brought the grimoires, right? Don’t forget to scout some of the inmates for the organization. I’ll take care of Ji Hyun-soo.”
Petals appeared from somewhere and stuck to Im Hyun-ah’s body. In less than a second, the petals fell off and disappeared. Her appearance had changed. She was now a woman in her 30s with dull black hair and dark circles under her eyes. Her clothes had also changed, and she was wearing a black coat.
“Kya. As expected of Ms. Hyun-ah. Your transformation magic is perfect. Even I would have been fooled if I hadn’t seen it myself, the atmosphere has changed so much.”
“My magic recreates some of the target’s memories or experiences. Well, only when I’m transformed, though.”
“Is that woman the warden of the Taeul Prison?”
“That’s right. Han Sowol. She has magic that binds targets. We need this woman’s permission to enter the Taeul Prison smoothly. I’ll take care of that, so you don’t have to worry about it. Follow me.”
She and the organization members confidently entered the Taeul Prison building.
They felt something was wrong immediately after entering the prison.
The prison was quiet. Too quiet. It was strange.
“……”
“Ms. Hyun-ah. I smell blood. A lot of blood. And I don’t see any guards. Something’s wrong.”
Im Hyun-ah searched through Han Sowol’s memories and headed to a panel on one of the walls. From here, she could control the doors of the prison cells.
Clang!
All the doors of the prison cells opened. Instead of inmates rushing out in joy, blood that had not yet cooled flowed out, filling the hallway.
The organization members were flustered.
“Ms. Hyun-ah?! The inmates are all dead!”
“They were all attacked by something sharp!”
“Is this a trap?!”
“Ms. Hyun-ah! What should we do?!”
It was a trap.
Im Hyun-ah’s expression hardened. But why? Why did they kill all the inmates? If it was a trap by the National Order of the Nation, there was no need to kill the inmates.
‘Questions later. We have to escape now.’
She immediately shouted to the organization members.
“Retreat!”
“Not so fast. I’ve been waiting for you here, why are you trying to leave already?”
A man appeared at the entrance of the building. Im Hyun-ah and the organization members immediately recognized him. They had received and studied his documents this morning.
“Sung Yoojin, the commander of the 8th Division…!”
“I became commander yesterday, and you already know about me. There must be a traitor inside. Here, a gift. You came to get this, right?”
Sung Yoojin threw something in front of them. It was Ji Hyun-soo, whose limbs were cut off and whose entire body was covered in burns. He had no eyes, and pus was oozing from his entire body, and he was only moving his mouth.
“Ki, kill me. Please… I told you everything I know… please kill me…”
It was Ji Hyun-soo, their target. Everyone was shocked by his miserable appearance, but Im Hyun-ah made a decision faster than anyone else.
A crisis judgment ability separate from magic. It was a kind of intuition and instinct that made her who she was today.
‘Transformation target! Malena!’
Her body changed. She became a slender Italian beauty with red hair. Malena’s ability was to pass through matter like a ghost. It was a magic that only she could use. She immediately passed through the wall and escaped outside.
Fortunately, Sung Yoojin did not follow her.
‘How am I supposed to fight that monster! Escaping and reporting to the organization is the best option! I can’t handle it!’
She ran through the forest, shouting in her mind as if making excuses for herself.
Sung Yoojin did not move even after seeing Im Hyun-ah disappear. He knew that she wouldn’t be able to go far anyway.
He held out one finger to the 21 mages who were tense while looking at him.
“I’ll save one person. Just one. So, from now on, kill each other.”
Baek Joo-hyuk shouted.
“Don’t listen to him! There’s no guarantee that he’ll let that one person live! He’ll definitely torture them like Ji Hyun-soo over there! The only way for us to survive is to kill that bastard!”
“The musclehead is smart. But what can you do?”
Sung Yoojin flicked his finger.
The wind moved.
The mages, sensing something was wrong, tried to react, but it was too late. Their necks were cut by the invisible wind and fell to the floor.
The only one left alive was Baek Joo-hyuk, who sensed the magical power and protected his neck with both arms. His arms were left with cuts from the blades.
“You sensed my magic and reinforced your arms with magic to block the wind cutter. Not bad.”
“You…!”
Baek Joo-hyuk gritted his teeth and charged at Sung Yoojin. At the same time, he used the acceleration magic he had used thousands of times. His movements became more than two stages faster.
He closed the distance and threw a punch at Sung Yoojin’s face. But Sung Yoojin easily dodged it and grabbed Baek Joo-hyuk by the collar and threw him away.
“Everyone and their dog has acceleration abilities. I’ll play with you for about three minutes to improve my proficiency.”
