Chapter 2 – The Life of an Unemployed (2)
“Wouldn’t you like to take some tutoring?”
After hearing the words denying the possibility of having all the options in my head, all emotions, including embarrassment, began to come in.
“…Are you talking about tutoring?”
“If the meaning of the word tutoring I used to know hasn’t changed, then you’re right.”
“…”
While holding on to words and thoughts that didn’t make sense, I thought of listening to the circumstances.
The professor, who was looking at my face, probably making a stupid expression, opened his mouth.
“Hmm…You look like you have a lot of questions, so I’ll explain.”
“Have you ever heard of the Faroes family?”
The Fellowes family…Probably among the numerous families in the empire, it is one of those families that are among the most famous in the magical world.
I remember that I applied for various magical researches as if it was not a lie to hold it in my fingers.
“Yes, I know that they applied for some of the research I did as an undergraduate research student.”
“Recently, I had a chance to talk to you, and they said they were looking for a new tutor this time.”
“You know because you went through the entrance exam period too, right?”
Since it is a society based on magic, the status of academies and universities that specialize in magic is very high.
Even if you just graduate from the academy, you will be treated as a talented person, and if you graduate from college, only the person concerned will be given a non-hereditary title.
Because of this, the entrance exam is extremely demanding and difficult for everyone. The only difference is whether it is an academy or a university.
So, there are private academies that help with these entrance exams. I have heard rumors that private tutoring also exists for the more upper class.
“By the way, Professor. Why are you folding?”
However, it is not that there is no tutoring experience in the first place, but since there is no relationship with aristocratic families, I asked with doubled doubts.
“First of all, the fact that you’re a student under me. This is half a joke, and that side must have noticed you.”
“They said that you would be a good match for what they needed.”
Aside from why a place like the Fellowes family was looking for someone like me, I wanted to know at least what was going on.
I decided to listen to the rest.
“The person in question is an academy second year student, the second daughter of the Fellowes family.”
“They asked for an answer within a week, and even if something happened that never happened, if you accept, I will take care of your travel expenses, so I ask you to visit me, that’s all I know.”
My pocketbook wasn’t too good to ask if I really had any regrets, so I had a strong thought that it was worth believing.
It is said that I went to school while receiving a scholarship, but it was not applicable to me as a student on leave, and it was tight due to the recent rise in overall prices.
“I think it wouldn’t be too bad to just go and visit once… Is that something?”
If you think about it simply, it was not a bad option to just go and come back. Even if it didn’t happen, there was nothing to lose.
“Okay. Then I’ll accept it.”
“I’ll talk to them first, so I’ll contact you once the date is decided.”
“All right.”
###
Perhaps because it was the season when the sun was short, the sun was already near the horizon when I left the building.
It’s been a while since I came to school, so I thought I’d meet someone I knew, but my relationship wasn’t that wide in the first place.
The people I knew were also busy, so I soon gave up and headed back to the tiny room.
It was less than two hours, but it felt like almost a week had passed since what had just happened.
After walking a little from the school, I began to see a street where academies were gathered.
A place to teach someone for a fee. On the surface, everyone is equal, but paradoxically unequal
I smiled bitterly at the thought of not knowing who I would teach.
It was your second year at the academy, so what did you learn then?
I remember that there were probably intermediate magic subjects, calculation practice subjects, and miscellaneous history subjects.
In fact, what was more important than the subject was the meaning of the sophomore year.
Whether or not you came in with your own will, about walking this path in earnest on your own.
It’s time to worry.
It is common for first graders to spend a year in a hectic environment, and for third graders, they have already spent two years
It’s because I have a strong desire to graduate.
Of course, there are always exceptions.
As I thought about this and that, I came to my room before I knew it.
I spent 3 years, then 3 and a half years, and another year and a half, and settled down in my own small but perfect shelter.
I don’t know if the meaning of taking a break applies to me, who doesn’t go out unless there’s something I need to do.
I wonder if it would be more comfortable than any other place for me now.
For dinner… I thought I’d have some bread and some alcohol, and I should go to bed early today.
After roughly solving the meal and washing the body before the warm water cuts off,
I lay down on the mattress.
Normally, when I lay in bed, I don’t think about anything and I’m just in a hurry to fall asleep.
Today, somehow, I had a lot of thoughts.
Of course, most of that is because of what happened today.
This is probably the first time I have studied for others in my 10 years of life.
It was like that when I entered the academy, and it was like that when I was preparing for the national exam for college entrance.
It was like that when I was living in a distant place.
It’s not that I didn’t have any intentions of working in the education field, but that is if the thesis is not accepted.
It was a plan for the future that was close to a kind of complaint about writing a graduation thesis in moderation and becoming an academy instructor after graduating.
With the compromise of thinking about tomorrow’s work, I went to sleep unable to overcome the weight of my eyelids.
###
Just like the last time, on the day when the three days of Eoyoung and Buyeong had passed and the week was coming to an end, the letter was placed there.
It must have been a detailed discussion I had discussed a few days ago, so I opened it without much hesitation.
—
Until 1:30 District 2 Fellowes Mansion
—
It was just a letter that put all weight on information delivery, no different from the last letter.
It can be said that it is really extreme in form, but there is no problem in content.
Looking at those letters, there was a problem that I wasn’t very knowledgeable about District 2 geography.
I will cancel the word that it is appropriate in terms of content.
At the very least, it would have been nice if the characteristics of the mansion or nearby buildings that stood out were attached.
There was nothing to change even if I got angry here, so I decided to leave right now considering the time to wander a little.
After passing through the unchanging streets of District 4 and arriving at District 2, the atmosphere was different.
Due to the nature of the district where many high-ranking aristocrats and rich people lived, buildings with more than two floors were rarely seen.
It’s been a while since I lived in Jedo Island, but I rarely came to District 2, so I acted like a newcomer to Jedo Island.
It wouldn’t be strange to wander.
It was obvious that I would not be able to meet the appointment time if I was looking for it alone, so I decided to seek help.
Just then, there was a man who appeared to be a butler nearby.
“Excuse me.”
“What are you doing?”
“I want to visit the Fellowes family mansion for work, but I don’t know where it is, so I’d like to ask.”
“Ah, is that so? Just as I was about to go nearby, let’s go together.”
Fortunately, my choice wasn’t bad. It’s a person who goes around, so there’s no better person than this
It wouldn’t have been at this point.
After following him for about 10 minutes, we came to an alley in a residential area, and there was a spectacular view of luxury mansions side by side.
“I have to go this way, so this is it. From the Fellowes Mansion, walk that way for about 3 minutes and you will see a house with a big tree in the garden.
That is the Fellowes Mansion.”
“Ah, thank you. Thanks to you, I was able to do my business on time.”
“No. Then I’m done.”
So he disappeared towards his destination and I started walking towards my destination again.
Then, if you knew the exact location, you could see a big tree that you couldn’t see around.
He stood in front of him, tidied up his clothes, and pressed a magic tool that looked like a pager.
“Who are you?”
“This is the person I decided to visit today from tutoring related to Professor Rosalyn Erenis.”
“Please wait a moment.”
I don’t know if it’s because of the size of the garden or because I went through the process of checking if there was an appointment.
I had to wait another 2 minutes or so.
Then the large door opened and a man who appeared to be an attendant was waiting.
“Sorry to have kept you waiting. Take it this way.”
The inside of the mansion was neat enough to be described as really monotonous compared to its scale.
I’m not sure if it’s the family head’s taste, but I made that evaluation in my heart and received guidance.
I entered a certain room.
“If you wait here for a while, he will be back soon. What kind of tea would you like?”
After answering that I would leave the judgment to you because I had no knowledge of cars, in the room
Silence prevailed.
After thinking about it for about 10 minutes, I heard a knock.
The door opened and a woman of indeterminate age entered. Are you really young
I don’t know if it’s because she manages it well, but she has a second daughter who is in the second year of the academy.
She definitely looked younger.
“Hello. My name is Katherine Peroz, the hostess of the Peroz family.”
