Chapter 14 – Episode 14 Interest
Human greed is enormous.
How many times has there been a history of crown princes becoming emperors and purging potential rivals?
It also happened unremarkably in other superhuman families.
It might be better to live a life of eating bean curd in moderation because I don’t have the ability.
There were a lot of people who were killed for clumsily baring their teeth.
“Greed?”
“Okay. Greed. And the talent to satisfy that greed.”
“What the hell do you want to say?”
Laura Wolf would have preferred that her family not care about herself or her children.
Jeffrey liked this woman because of her personality.
But I didn’t like her thinking of her children.
It was natural for her to nurture her children if they had any talents.
She had to pamper herself and get something more to pass on to her children.
But Laura didn’t.
“Aren’t you thinking of raising her son well?”
“I have no intention of pushing you down that hard road.”
“It’s hard, but those who survive can have everything.”
Laura Wolf said her words, looking directly into Jeffrey’s eyes for the first time in a long time.
“So, the head of the household, how many of the people who were by your side when you first started adventuring together remain?”
“Okay.”
Jeffrey had nothing to say.
He also met and broke up with numerous friends and colleagues before becoming a superman.
I haven’t counted them all, but it must have been over 100.
And among them, only the two of them, himself and Demeter, rose to the ranks of superhumans.
Besides, this was on the lucky side.
Superman is the world of wealth and power, and every young person in this world dreams of becoming an adventurer and reaching the level of a superman.
However, in the end, only one person in 100 million will become a superhuman.
“All die. Give up or Even if you give up, you will be crippled. Or get handicapped. I don’t want to put my son down that path.”
At Laura Wolf’s words, Geoffrey sighed and said,
“But what if your son wants to walk that path?”
“Yes?”
“Laura. There are people in the world who just want to live a normal life. There are people who want to achieve something even at the risk of their lives. What if Jason is the latter?”
This time Laura didn’t answer.
Jeffrey was frustrated.
“My son is talented and ambitious. And he even has human eyes. Now, he curses a lot here and there because he has a beautiful female teacher.”
Laura knew that too.
There was even a rumor that Jason even put on a mask to monopolize the female teacher’s beauty.
“If that child had really already fallen for a woman and saved her mistress, I would have stopped paying attention at once. But she is that mistress. She says she has talent. I don’t know if she’ll ever grow to the size of Demeter. Still, it’s worth keeping next to you.”
“Thank god.”
“The stronger you are, the more wealth and power you gather. I don’t have time to practice if I’m trying to handle it all by myself. After all, superhumans need subordinates who will be their hands and feet. That’s what Jason is doing.”
Jeffrey said to Laura.
“Don’t block your son’s path. He doesn’t mind doing anything to help. I will not allow anything to stand in the way.”
It was a one-sided notice.
And Jeffrey had the strength to do so.
Laura just bowed her head and accepted the order.
“I am tired. I’ll just go for today.”
Jeffrey would rather have her children grow up than hold her dear.
He was content just thinking of Jason.
“Oh, and let me know if Jason needs anything. I will give you that much support.”
Laura said nothing and still kept her head down.
Jeffrey returned to the main building.
**
Jeffrey left and Laura quietly made her way to her son’s room on the second floor.
It was late at night.
But the son wasn’t sleeping yet.
There were noises in his room.
It was the sound of a dagger stabbing a tree.
Laura stood in front of the door and knocked when the sound stopped.
He didn’t want his son to be startled and hurt by his knock.
“Can I come in?”
“Yes.”
When I opened the door and entered, Jason had his left hand spread out and a dagger thrust between his fingers.
“Can I talk to you?”
He was an exceptionally grown-up child.
Laura thought it was because he ate a lot of eyebrows, and it always hurt his heart.
“Yes, mother.”
Hats sat facing each other.
“Your father said so. That you are greedy Would you like to be like your father?”
Her mother’s worried eyes were burdensome.
She was a petit bourgeois who thought that living a normal life was the best.
Because of her innate beauty, she herself could not live such a life, but she wanted her children to live a normal life without saying sorry things to others and without swearing at others.
But Jason didn’t want to live like that.
The reason he became a gangster in his previous life was because he wanted to live well after all.
He wanted to eat delicious food, live in a nice house, and make sure his family didn’t lack anything.
It was the same in this lifetime.
“No. I want to surpass my father.”
Laura was surprised.
The greatest superman in the empire surpasses his father.
It was not something that could be said out of greed.
“It’s going to be tough. It could be dangerous And few people do that. Many people in the world become adventurers, but among them, even in this big capital, only one or two become superhumans.”
“But I will. No one can ignore her mother. I will become the kind of superhuman who can’t do anything to her sister.”
Eventually Laura gave up trying to convince her son.
She is also 30 years old.
She has seen many people.
I know many people once had big dreams.
“Okay. I get it. But if it’s too hard, it’s okay to give up anytime. Then lean on your mother.”
“All right.”
Laura hugged Jason.
Although she has memories of her past life, she also had memories of the 11 years this mother cared for her.
Jason considered Laura to be her real mother.
It was all in her mind that she changed her own poop diapers and fed her breasts.
This time, I was thinking of doing filial piety properly.
**
“Looks like you’ve gotten used to the assault by now.”
Jason now has straw tied to bamboo that he can trigger when he wants a sneak attack.
Sometimes I just cut off half because I still don’t have enough strength, but when I’m in good shape, I cut the whole thing off at once.
It was an outstanding achievement for an 11-year-old.
“Then let’s learn other thief skills. The most essential are, of course, stealth and entrapment.”
“Hmm… Except for the entrapment technique.”
“Yes?”
Spear was dumbfounded.
The place most adventurers went to to become superhuman was dungeons.
Dungeons were of several types.
A tower left by an ancient mage. The Imperial Palace of the Fallen Empire. A deep cave where a dragon lives.
And all these dungeons had traps to defend against intruders.
One of the important things the thief did was to find this trap in advance and disarm it.
Until now, there was no thief who hadn’t learned trapping techniques.
Not doing that was like saying I would miss an adventurer’s party.
“Young master. You may not know well, but… “
When Spia spoke longer to persuade, Jason quickly spoke his own words.
“No. It’s better to learn something else at that time. To be honest, for trap magic, you only need to bring one more suitable bandit, isn’t it? It’s good to learn something else with that time.”
Jason had no intention of becoming a mediocre rogue.
Human life is finite, and there was not enough time to learn the most helpful things.
“Then, what do you plan to learn, Bocchan?”
“I want to be able to put in an assault by myself.”
Assault is an essential skill for thieves, but it was also a skill with many weaknesses.
First of all, it was great that if the enemy was fully focused on the thief, it would not work.
So many thieves sneaked in and shot bows or crossbows, or attacked from close range while their comrades drew their attention.
‘But a superman must be strong alone. If I have to borrow someone’s power, I can’t be called a superman.’
It was the same as saying that if you have to borrow someone’s power, you can’t decide everything by yourself.
So, the thief had to be weak in one-on-one battles, and even if he became a superman, he had to be criticized for being a bit lacking compared to other supermen.
“Learn some martial arts. Spia-san, you know how to do martial arts too, right?”
“Yes, if it is basic.”
For all adventurers, martial arts were the basics.
Apart from the effect of training the body, there were times when I really lost all weapons in the dungeon.
In such a situation, the only thing he could trust in the end was his own two fists.
“Among them, I mainly learn to knock them down.”
“Hmm… It is well known that you can easily land an assault on a fallen opponent.”
Spear wanted to lay a good groundwork out of caring for Jason, but now he also knew he couldn’t break Jason’s stubbornness.
But he still liked it.
Classes like warriors were much stronger than thieves and were not easy to defeat.
Also, if you fall, you get up right away.
It still seemed like a bad strategy, she thought.
Jason said this to win Spia’s heart.
“Let’s learn this first. There is nothing to lose by learning. And later, if necessary, I will learn something else.”
