Chapter 4 – District 1 (1)
2. District 1 (1)
When I entered the dungeon entrance with Kaya, I thought for a moment that the whole world was surrounded by darkness, and then there was a large clearing in front of me.
‘If you look at the outside, there doesn’t seem to be any difference between the dungeon and the game.’
The dungeon of The Long Terror consists of a total of 3 areas, and each area was further divided into 10 rooms. And that small room had a structure in which one of four places, a normal monster room, an elite monster room, an event room, and a resting place, appeared randomly. The last 10th room was unconditionally the boss room.
For example, players marked the boss room in area 1 as 1-10, but now the place where Kaya and I are located is 1-0.
It’s not a formal room, but it’s a definite safety zone that always exists in each area, except for the rest area that exists randomly…
In the game, it was possible to retreat without loss only once in 1-0.
That is, if it is here.
From here, you should be able to turn around and exit the infamous dungeon of The Long Terror.
“Leader?”
“Ah.”
But that thought was shattered by Kaya’s call. Like the first time I saw it, I walked without hesitation, heavy armor, and a terrifying mace.
That’s why she called me captain, and it was as if she was urging me to procrastinate instead of leading me.
I made a promise just a few minutes ago.
‘Cowardice… Did you eat it?’
The horse was stagnant, the probability of clearing the hard difficulty was 10%. Basically, the difficulty level of the game itself is high, and luck factors are everywhere, so the probability of a shitty situation increases significantly as the difficulty level increases.
Even so, even though it was only 10%, it was called a deceased person. Because even 10% was very good.
However, the difficulty level of the dungeon was higher than that, and I had to run through it with my body, not with my mouse.
What are the odds?
It seems that reason was swallowed up by that probability inadvertently. As long as there is no guarantee that you can start over if you die, it ends there.
“I literally have to risk my life.”
“… I will protect the captain.”
“Thank you.”
I couldn’t even say the words that I’ll protect you. Something like a flag.
“Let’s go.”
“Yes.”
**
[Kaya]
Class: Battle Vestal
Level: 1
Max HP: 14 (11+2+1)
Attack Power: 3~8 (2+1~7+1)
Defense: 3 (1+1+1)
[Hendrik ‘Eugene’ TerrorHunter]
Class: Bounty Hunter
Level: 1
Max HP: 15 (11+3+1)
Attack Power: 3~11 (2+1~7+3+1)
Defense: 4 (1+2+1)
Immediately after entering the first floor, I stopped Kaya and checked her key stats. It was confirmed that the correction value was added in parentheses, probably because she was wearing the basic weapon and armor.
Whoa.
My armor level was 1, so I still had higher HP and defense than Kaya in heavy armor. Of course, my attack power was high.
Originally, it was correct that the healer stood behind her, but she felt a bit regretful for some reason.
“I am in the first row, Kaya and you are in the second row. Let’s go like this.”
“… I can be in the lead.”
“Someone who is even slightly stronger should stand in front. Besides, I’d be a little better than you if you were to do things like reconnaissance or trap removal.”
After looking at me for a moment, Kaya politely nodded her head. It was fortunate that she wasn’t the type to recklessly show off her strength or courage.
I let out a sigh of relief and cautiously moved forward.
A damp, musty smell like that of a basement. The surroundings are bright, but if you get a little further away, the darkness comes suddenly.
Chi Ik-
[The brightness fills up. It makes the creeping fear go back a little.]
[Current brightness: 94]
‘Brightness’ influences numerous factors such as the probability of a preemptive attack or being attacked, the decline of the warriors’ mentality, and the degree of compensation.
In the game, whenever the brightness drops, click on the lantern oil in the inventory to brighten it up on its own, but here you have to put it in yourself. It was fortunate that I didn’t have to carry it around as it floated around me, perhaps because of the power of magic.
On the way to 1-1, it seemed like I could hear the music, and even though there were bones rolling around, I couldn’t be afraid of this already.
5 seconds in the game, and 5 minutes when I walk.
We had the first room in front of us.
1-0 to 1-1 was unconditionally a one-way street, and the room in front of me would be 100% normal monster room.
“Kaya. Are you ready?”
Nod-
Instead of speaking, Kaya firmly gripped his mace.
“Open.”
When we heard the harsh sound of the door and went inside, we were greeted by a common monster 〈 Layman 〉 Hana from the first floor entrance. A humanoid monster with the setting of being an extremist worshiper of a pagan group that reveres and worships the deepest and longest fear.
Thud-!
The door was closed, and I, clumsily holding a hatchet, confronted the layman in a natural posture before I knew it.
[Speed check]
[Eugene: 7]
[Kaya: 4]
[Lay: 5]
A speed check message floating in the corner of your field of vision.
The higher the speed, the faster the turn came, and it did not cover the peer. In other words, I was the first, the monster was second, and Kaya was the last.
[Layman]
Max HP: 26
Attack Power: 4~7
Defense: 1
Speed: 5
When he glared at the monster, a speck of a layperson appeared in the air next to it and gnashed his teeth.
‘Is this a true story about bouncing one’s stamina?’
I decided to use the 2nd skill, the flash grenade, to get a feel for the battle and to see the liver.
[Skill 2 Flash Bullet!]
– Debuff 2 enemies
– Blindness on hit (Accuracy -50)
As soon as I thought about throwing a flash grenade, my body naturally pulled out the pin of the flash grenade and threw it nicely toward the layman.
[Eugene deals 1 damage to a layman.]
[25/26 HP remaining]
[A layperson has been afflicted with the status abnormality ‘blindness’ (1 turn).]
“Nice.”
He succeeded in inflicting blindness, a status ailment that caused his accuracy to drop rapidly.
After my attack was over, the layman screamed and slashed at me, but maybe it was the effect of his blindness, he swung in the wrong place, and it was Kaya’s turn with a miss.
She looked at her layman and twitched her hand, as if she was waiting for my command. This made it clear. The only difference is whether it was a click or a direct command, but the essence is the same.
I ordered Kaya without hesitation.
‘Let’s see the combat nun’s skills. Kaya, 〈 Everything according to God’s will 〉.’
Kaya looked at me and widened her eyes, and she soon lowered her stance with her first wide smile since we met.
Then she crouched down like a runner’s starting position, and then she exploded forward.
Quick-!
[Everything according to God’s will]
[Fatal blow!]
[Kaya deals 17 damage to layman.]
[Remaining HP 8/26]
Swinging her mace as hard as she could, Kaya, who shattered the layman’s head, smiled brightly as she approached me.
Holding a mace covered in blood and flesh.
“Ah, everything is according to God’s will…”
‘Poetry, fuck.’
It was too creepy to rejoice at the fatal blow in the first room.
After trying to answer her smile by raising the corner of her mouth, I prepared for my turn in the second round.
Remaining stamina is 8.
My current attack power is 3-11, but the 3rd skill Head Crushing has a damage compensation of 4 to the humanoid monster, so it was actually 7-15.
Its defense was 1, so the expected value was 6-14, and the probability of not killing it was 2/9.
‘Crush the head!’
I used the skill inwardly, and soon after, my body moved freely as before, and I raised the hatchet high and struck the layman’s head.
Quadduk-!
“Phew.”
Only 8 damage, almost unlucky.
I passed a layman with a split head, spewing brain fluid in all directions. I almost got nauseous, but I tried to look away and searched every nook and cranny of the room, but only dust was blown away.
There was no reward.
“Tsk. It’s dog hair Kaya, are you okay?”
“Yes.”
Kaya returned with an expressionless face as if she had never done that before. I opened the door to the outside, vowing never to disobey her.
Chi Ik-
While walking through the still creepy hallway, raising the brightness that had been darkened by the battle, the first fork in the road appeared.
And, of course, mapping (map reconnaissance) was not triggered. Because the odds were only 16%.
If mapping had been activated, I would have been able to know in advance which room was on the other side of the fork before entering, and I would have been able to find traps and secret rooms.
After thinking briefly, I entered the left fork.
As I progressed through the hallway, the mini-map floating in the upper right corner of my field of vision was updated little by little in real time, and I looked around at the floor, ceiling, and both walls.
Traps, always beware of traps…
“Great!”
“Kaya!”
[Kaya is caught in a trap.]
[You have a status abnormality of ‘poisoning’ (3). HP decreases by 1 every minute.]
[Remaining HP 13/14]
[Kaya mentality -9]
‘Damn it, a poison trap.’
Kaya, who was on one knee with her shoulder wrapped around her, looked quite in pain. She looked closely and saw a long, thin iron needle stuck between the gaps in her armour.
“It will hurt.”
Seeing the pale Kaya clenching her lips, she quickly withdrew her stinger. She then took the antidote out of her backpack, poured half of it over her wound, and let her drink the rest.
[Kaya has recovered from her condition ‘poisoning’.]
A message popped up saying that her condition was over, but her face turned pale like that, and she couldn’t help but worry.
Shit, if it’s going to be played like a game, why don’t you do this like a game too? Why is it so vivid
“Can you move?”
“… I saw ugliness. It’s okay.”
“What is ugliness?”
Now that I’ve only beaten 1-1, it’s quite painful to have already consumed one antidote. Consumables were not infinite, and unless I met a dungeon merchant by luck, I had to break through 1-10 with the things I had initially packed.
But I couldn’t save it. If you leave it as it is, it will take 3 more HP, and in this dungeon where you don’t know when the character will fall out, that alone was a huge blow.
“If there is anything wrong, tell me anytime.”
“… Yes.”
Clearly, the blunt combat nun was already drowning in remorse. Her mentality is 9 or lower because of that.
Clicking her tongue, she moved forward more cautiously than before.
[The fear that flows from the deepest depths of the dungeon aims at the small cracks in the courage of the warriors.]
[Eugene mentality -4]
[Kaya mentality -5]
Then, as if making fun of me, a mentality declining message came to mind, and seeing that Kaya’s mentality had already reached -14, she decided to move quickly, even if it meant falling into another trap.
Except for the resting place, wherever you are and at any time, your mentality is constantly being ground. A sense of fear that the longest fear might devour oneself even if one stays still.
Never.
Whoever it is, mentality shouldn’t be -100.
“Kaya. We are moving forward at full speed.”
Nod-
As she spoke firmly, Kaya showed her resolve, she counted to three and then sprinted in front of her.
I don’t know if it was a bold decision or luck, but I was able to avoid both traps that were triggered just before 1-2.
[Gain a little confidence by boldly breaking through traps.]
[Eugene mentality +2]
[Kaya mentality +2]
‘Nice.’
I clenched my fist at the small but valuable reward and opened the door to the second room.
What a profit…
“Fear! Fear! The horror is coming.
[Encountered with an elite monster, 〈 Dread Prophet 〉]
[The warriors are momentarily stiff at the overwhelming and grotesque appearance of the monster.]
[Skip speed check, 〈 Dreadseer 〉 takes turn first.]
“Fuck Nimmy…”
Cooong!
This like fear and hunger cool
Love turn based games hopefully plapping is also turn based that be nice.
