Chapter 146 – Volume 30 – Inner Marchen (1)

“New one?”
“Yeah, this time it’s like ‘Happiness comes from the heart’, a bunch of different shorts.”

Of course, it’s a bit longer than that, so I was expecting the amount of Hwashin Advent for each short story.
First of all, I’m thinking of about 5 drafts, so if you put them all together, it will boast a huge amount.
Still, I have to do that to finish a story.

“Five? Doesn’t that make it very thick?”
“No. Because this time I’m going to make all the books separately.”

So if you want to buy all 5 books, the cost will be quite expensive.
But it was an unavoidable part.
Because this work was not a cartoon in the way people usually think of it.

Recently, while helping develop Rosaria’s board game ‘Making Strawberry Milk’.
I thought that I would like to use this type of board game in my work as well.
Naturally, one board game that swept the world with the power of one original cartoon had to come to mind.
If you think about it, the ‘board game’ bulletin board of a large site will only talk about that board game, and general board game stories will be talked about on other bulletin boards.

“How to put up with TCG.”

Trading card game.
It is a sub-genre of board games in which you open a card pack, randomly purchase cards, and build a deck with the cards.
However, I didn’t have the confidence to balance well enough to support such a variety of customizing for me.
I was thinking of making a board game that only adopted the combat system form commonly used in TCG games.

Perhaps, in the case of the way the game is sold, it is not like TCG where cards are randomly drawn and decks are constructed directly from them.
Buying the game itself with a deck already completed and playing the game with it.
I plan to use the expansion pack sales method used in general board games.

In fact, the important thing is not whether or not there is a TCG.
My real goal was to release a card game based on a manga like the one I mentioned earlier.
The important thing is the unique sensibility drawn in the card game manga, not the method of acquiring the cards.

“Oh, so you mean the book and the game are one set?”
“Yes.”

The book contains not only the book, but also the deck used by the main character of the book.
You cannot mix and match cards from different decks, so if you buy any manga and get a deck, you will have no problem playing the game.
Of course, you can’t play the game alone, so you’ll have to actually buy two.
Considering that it will be popular to some extent, there will be no problem playing alone even if you buy it.

“Then you should test that game with us?”
“It’s for two people, so it’s okay to do it with Rosaria. It’ll be faster if you guys help too.”

Of course, it’s convenient when the number of testers goes up.
Anyway, I’m busy testing strawberry milk making, so in the meantime, I’ll have to put together a deck of cards to suit this idea.
After all, I’ll finish the cards first and start working on the manga.

‘Because the continuity itself is complete. I can make the deck concept and card concept in advance.’

After balancing while maintaining the concept and style.
Now, based on the final performance that was completed from then on, you can make a detailed progression of the episode.
If possible, I want to match the effect of the card in the manga with the effect of the actual card.

The concept of this work is a card battle with a “Fairy tale” Motif.
The main characters will be able to create a deck with the story most similar to their heart, ‘Marchen’.
And by using that Marchen to do a card battle to fight the enemy.
It had an awakening world view that was subtly similar to the Hwashin series.

However, it is a little different from fighting ruthlessly for survival like the erosion of the Hwashin series.
It’s no different, though, that this is a serious battle where you and your loved ones are staked.
It’s more like a war of interest here.
And unlike in the incarnation series, awakening to become an incarnation was a special thing, making Marchen as a card here is something close to the daily life of many people.

Even that is just a basic world view, and you can feel that what each main character is trying to achieve with this card battle is very different.
If there is a girl who dedicates herself for the country in accordance with the worldview and plays a card battle on the front line.
In order to support her family, there are also ordinary girls who want to earn money by raiding dungeons through card battles.

This is because it is basically a card battle almighty world, so you can draw a scene where all of the various goals are obtained through card battles.
In any case, the basic flow of the work is to study one’s deck in that way, and fill the mulberry with things that ultimately achieve the goal.
Of course, the decks that showed great looks throughout the work are included in the work, so you can directly battle with that deck.

‘As for the fairy tale part, there are little by little similarities between this side and that side. Perhaps if I use the fairy tales I know by properly modifying them, I can use them naturally.’

Currently, the fairy tales that have been decided on are ‘The Princess Who Doesn’t Laugh’, ‘The Little Match Girl’, ‘Rapunzel’, ‘The Shepherd’s Boy’, and ‘Cinderella’.
It’s not about drawing that story as a manga, it’s “Merchen”, Which is the concept of the deck.
Still, since it is the main material for this work, I chose it with great care.

And what most clearly contained the concept of this series was the storyboards I had worked hard on so far.
Well, I guess I have to check the continuity of ‘Sharp’, where the character design was first developed, one by one.
Obviously, the last time I made it, I thought it was almost perfect, but looking at it now, after quite some time, I can see the lacking parts.

In Sharp’s case, she’s a girl knight who fights to protect her country.
Of course, in this world, the existence of a knight is one that fights in card battles using ‘Merchen’.
Similarly, Sharp was supposed to awaken his ‘Marchen’ and use that Marchen to fight the enemy.

Sharp’s Marchen is a story created based on a fairy tale called ‘The Princess Who Doesn’t Laugh’.
In order to make the princess who has lost her smile laugh, the king brings all kinds of people.
It is a fairy tale that begins with the king’s order to welcome the person who makes the princess smile as his son-in-law, causing the country to turn upside down.

However, even with all the methods, the princess did not smile.
As a result, the situation becomes increasingly serious, and in the meantime, a knight who accidentally sees the king’s name ponders why the princess is not smiling.
It is a story in which the princess gradually realizes the ‘reason for not laughing’.

In the end, the knight realizes what the princess wants, and brings justice to those who are greedy and bully others.
The story that the princess who saw it laughed for the first time, and the knight married the princess.
It was a little different from the original, but it was the result of mixing it with a similar tale from this world.

“The card is that the princess doesn’t smile much. It’s a solid deck with many defense enhancements and special effects nullification.”

Sharp carries such a Marchen and fights against enemies.
In fact, the enemies Sharp was fighting were very strong enemies for her to handle.
From the beginning, the war was at a level where it did not become a fight in terms of national power.

But even so, she overcomes the dangerous situation without breaking.
In her convictions, those who are greedy and cause pain to others must fall.
Their enemies invaded this small country because of their greed more than anyone else.
It was because her Marchen could never tolerate such enemies.

“And in the middle, we get involved with other main characters and help each other build their skills… Well, it’s important to put the feeling of another character’s advertisement in this way.”

Anyway, the content itself is not that great.
It’s just a wonderful story of a knight who literally isn’t a big deal, who works hard to slaughter enemies and protect his country.
However, the fun factor is that all of these actions use card battles, not ordinary systems such as swordsmanship or magic.

Even opponents who use cowardly tactics are just trying to use the card battle as a trick.
I don’t use the card battle itself, and I don’t think about subduing the opponent in any other way.
Because that’s the promise of this worldview.

“I don’t think there’s any particular problem.”

What bothered me the most was the part of acquiring cards used in TCG game works and customizing the deck to become stronger.
It was changed to a scene where some of the cards were awakened and made into ‘rare cards’.
It was only within the work that he succeeded in making a weak card strong.
Since the actual cards given are in a strong state, I couldn’t have a similar experience with real cards.

‘Still, I’ll just have to draw this part coolly and well.’

I thought so, but it is only possible to express that kind of expression within a work.
During the game, I’ve been thinking about how to increase the mulberry taste of the ‘rare card’, which is the core of this deck.
As expected, if it was a ‘rare card’, the difference in design would be the best.

As far as I know, rare cards are basically glitters that give them a flashy look.
It is a method that cannot be used because such a coating has not appeared in this world.
The only difference I thought was that only rare cards were produced as color cards.

‘I’ll have to pay a lot of attention to the quality of the paper for this.’

It should be at a level where it is difficult to distinguish the card from the back and side so that it does not interfere with play.
If you solve that, it was a good idea to make a rare card have an overwhelming presence among the basic black and white cards.
