## Chapter 67 – My Childhood Friend Is Angry
* * *
“Say that kind of crap one more time! Then we’re done, done! Got it?!”
-Thump!
Jung Se-in slammed her phone onto the table after hanging up.
The people gathered there jumped, startled by the sound. Some trembled as if they were guilty, looking around nervously.
“Ugh. I’m already annoyed. Don’t test my temper.”
With that, Jung Se-in casually propped her leg up on the round table.
Her white leg stretched out beautifully from under her skirt. From the seat directly in front, you could even see her panties.
But the owner of the panties didn’t care. There were only women in the room right now, anyway.
If my friend were here, she’d be trying to get a good look, wouldn’t she? Thinking that, Jung Se-in pouted. She was bothered by the fact that she had yelled on the phone.
The current location was the student council room of Ewha Women’s University.
Today, student council members had gathered here for a meeting.
There were more than ten people gathered. Nevertheless, no one dared to challenge Jung Se-in’s arrogant attitude. Even Jung Se-in’s seniors were there, but they all pretended not to notice.
“What are you doing? Why aren’t you continuing the discussion?”
The ten or so student council members surrounding the round table just looked at each other, waiting for someone to speak first.
When Jung Se-in suddenly started talking on the phone, everyone clammed up as if they had planned it. That silence continued even after Jung Se-in hung up.
“Uh, ahem.”
The female student council vice president, who was also Jung Se-in’s classmate, cleared her throat.
Right now, there were only a few people who could stop Jung Se-in’s rampage. The vice president was one of them. In fact, she was practically sitting in the vice president’s seat solely because she was Jung Se-in’s classmate.
“Um, Se-in. If you’re busy, you can go ahead.”
“How can I leave if we haven’t reached a conclusion?”
“Right, right.”
But even the vice president couldn’t easily step in when Jung Se-in was in a bad mood.
Even though they were classmates, you couldn’t even jokingly say they were on equal footing. Their friendship was only valid with Jung Se-in’s permission.
“Ahem. So, Dongduk Women’s University is still talking about us?”
“Yes. They’re requesting that our student council officially support them.”
“Sungshin Women’s University, Sookmyung Women’s University, and Sungshin Women’s University have also joined. They say Ewha Women’s University is the only one left…”
The student council members surrounding the round table barely managed to say a word each. At the same time, they were subtly watching Jung Se-in’s reaction.
Jung Se-in wasn’t the student council president, or even an executive member. Yet, in this place, Jung Se-in had more influence than anyone else.
“Haa~!”
Jung Se-in sighed heavily, looking at the ceiling of the student council room.
She clearly didn’t like the topic of discussion at the meeting. Tension settled on the shoulders of the executives who had spoken.
“Huh? Just because others are supporting them, we have to too?”
“Well, it’s not exactly that…”
“They supported us when we were protesting, so it’s a bit… you know, if we pretend we don’t know when they’re doing it, right?”
At the cautious words of the executives, Jung Se-in’s eyebrows shot up.
“That’s exactly what you’re saying. If there’s a valid reason, who would say anything? Try to persuade me logically. Don’t give me that castrated bullcrap about how they supported us last time so we have to support them, or how other schools are supporting them so we have to too.”
Everyone fell silent at Jung Se-in’s irritated words. Some even avoided eye contact, as if they had committed a sin.
“…But, don’t you think we don’t necessarily have to oppose it?”
Among them, there was also a courageous student.
She was a sophomore at Ewha Women’s University with strong activist tendencies.
“It’s not like we’re joining the protests, it’s just a statement of solidarity and support… I don’t think there’s any reason to oppose even that.”
“No reason to oppose it?”
Jung Se-in lowered her leg from the table and leaned forward. She looked like she was about to start a fight in earnest.
Why is she pouring oil on the fire again? Tension returned among the executives attending the meeting.
“Let me ask you the other way around. Why are you trying to support them? We don’t gain anything by supporting them, and the moment we do, it’s like advertising that our brains are empty.”
“B-Brains empty, you say…”
“Isn’t it? They’re destroying the school without any justification, and supporting that is like bragging that the brains of Korean female college students are empty.”
The face of the junior who had spoken turned red. She looked like she had a lot to say.
An executive sitting next to the junior pressed down on her arm, as if telling her to hold back.
If she argued any further here, her school life could become difficult. The opponent was Jung Se-in, the tyrant of Ewha Women’s University. It was best not to even think about winning through conversation from the start.
Jung Se-in smirked at the junior, as if provoking her.
“Hehe. Should we really try it? Maybe there won’t be any women’s universities in Korea from next year? They’ll say that if you put only women together, they become empty-headed, so they should all be abolished.”
“S-Senior! Even so…”
“What?”
“……Nothing.”
The junior, who had stepped up with a surge of emotion, sank at Jung Se-in’s glare.
“Tsk. These are the kind of girls who need to taste some dick.”
Jung Se-in quietly clicked her tongue, inwardly hoping that the junior would push back a little more.
If she were just a little slimmer, I would have taken her to Dick King. The junior was far exceeding the standards. Jung Se-in was secretly picky when it came to selecting people.
“Then what do we do? Do we announce that we don’t support them?”
“What do we do? We don’t do anything.”
Jung Se-in retorted bluntly.
“If we keep our mouths shut, what are they going to do? Just stay still. They’re the ones causing trouble, and they want us to get covered in shit with them? Tell them to get lost.”
Then, she looked around at the student council members surrounding the table. Those who met her eyes flinched as if they had committed a crime.
“Don’t get me wrong. They say they supported us first, but we did what we had to do without that anyway. Rather, they rode on our backs and had fun making a big fuss together. We didn’t benefit from them.”
Some of the executives nodded as if agreeing with Jung Se-in’s words.
The junior who had stood up against Jung Se-in lowered her head and trembled.
“I promised I would definitely help…”
“If you want to show solidarity that much, do it in your personal name. Don’t sell the school’s name.”
“Ugh…”
As if the conversation was over, Jung Se-in turned her eyes to another executive.
“Manage the community well too. Don’t let any unnecessary noise come out. They’re causing trouble with their weird disruptions.”
“Yes…”
“Then this discussion is over. President, let’s start the meeting.”
At Jung Se-in’s words, the student council president, who had been looking over documents, raised her head.
It was as if Jung Se-in was the president, but the actual president was clearly here.
“Then, shall we start the official meeting?”
The student council president adjusted her glasses and started.
The discussion up until now wasn’t an official meeting. The student council meeting with official records would start now. The secretary was only now starting to type on the laptop to record the meeting.
Of course, the conclusion of the meeting had already been reached. According to the opinion of someone who wasn’t an executive member of the student council.
“President. About the Dongduk Women’s University matter.”
“Next month is the final exam. We don’t have the energy to pay attention to external matters.”
“Yes.”
The president dismissed the agenda item itself. It was as discussed before starting the ‘official meeting.’
The student council meeting was like a play, acting according to the script that Jung Se-in had written.
A student council meeting manipulated from behind by Jung Se-in, a hidden power broker.
It was clearly a strange situation, but no one dared to object. If anyone objected here, the topic of the next meeting might be their expulsion.
“Then, I’ll end today’s meeting here. Everyone, thank you for your hard work.”
The formal meeting ended quickly.
As everyone packed their bags and got up from their seats, Jung Se-in, who had been waiting on one side of the student council room, approached the president.
“President-sunbae. Good work.”
“Se-in, you haven’t left yet? Aren’t you meeting your boyfriend today?”
Yoon Chae-kyung, a fourth-year student in the Department of Political Science and Diplomacy at Ewha Women’s University.
She was sometimes pointed at as a puppet student council president set up by the powerful Jung Se-in, but her practical skills were surprisingly excellent. Jung Se-in, a junior in the same department, had taken note of her and recommended her for the position of student council president because of her abilities.
Above all, she was a woman full of ambition. Taking on the position of student council president in her fourth year, just before graduation, was also like that. She had the ambition to grab onto the connection called Jung Se-in and advance into the political world after graduation.
Jung Se-in also highly valued Yoon Chae-kyung.
Above all, the fact that she was an intellectual beauty was a high score. She was a type that Jung Se-in didn’t have much of around her.
“I told you, it’s not my boyfriend. But, are you free today?”
“Me? Am I a substitute for your boyfriend?”
At Jung Se-in’s suggestion, student council president Yoon Chae-kyung laughed without pretense.
“Well, is it similar? I have something to ask of you, sunbae.”
“Se-in is asking me for a favor?”
At those words, Yoon Chae-kyung perked up her ears.
Jung Se-in usually doesn’t use the word ‘favor’ very often. In the first place, a person who has nothing to be sorry about has no reason to ask others for favors.
Jung Se-in is asking for a favor. Yoon Chae-kyung felt that the gears that would change her destiny were starting to turn.
“Oh my, if it’s a favor from our assemblywoman, I have to grant it no matter what. Just say the word, assemblywoman.”
“Oh, stop calling me that, sunbae.”
The story that Jung Se-in would enter politics after graduation was being accepted as a foregone conclusion.
If Jung Se-in became a member of the National Assembly, Yoon Chae-kyung would become her aide. From there, she would climb the steps one by one, and at the end of that would be Yoon Chae-kyung’s goal of reaching a high position that she had never even imagined.
And today’s promise with Jung Se-in might be the first step in that history.
“Hehe. Tell me anything. We’re close, right?”
Watching the student council president already drinking the soup, Jung Se-in quietly smiled.
In her heart, she hoped that her childhood friend would like the peace offering.
